I just bought my first ever DVC contract 150 pts directly from Disney. I already know I want more points and I am thinking of buying them on the resale market. What are the rules of pooling direct points with resale points?
Can I use 150 pts bought directly and 100 points bought resale to book Copper Creek for instance (if only the resale pts are for Copper Creek)? I know the rules are different at Riviera, but Riviera aside, how would this work?

Yes you can pool points if the contracts have the same UY and resort. I have a direct SSR contract and a resale contract with Dec UYs. I can treat it like one contract when making reservations at the 11 month mark.

You can also pool different resorts with the same UY to book at 7 months.
You can even transfer points between two different UY and then make a booking (although used to need MS to help complete that type of booking)

In addition to the same UY & Resort, the names on the deeds must also match. I added 2 other people to a recent purchase, and was unable to merge them with main member #. FYI.

Yes, but only at 7 months, and only if both contracts are part of the same membership. (In other words, both contracts must have the same use year and be titled exactly the same). To pool the points at 11 months, both contracts must be for the same resort. For your example, to pool at 11 months, both contracts must be for CCV, and be part of the same membership.

The only difference between resale and direct points for the same resort is booking RIV and future resorts. When they are in the same membership...UY and same owners..., they can be used together for that resort at 11 months, and all others...sans RIV...at 7 months.

If your direct and resale points are different resorts, then you can pool them together for stays at 7 months from check in, everywhere except RIV.

Point keep home resort status, no matter how they are purchased so CCV can only be used at CCV at 11 months and can not be used anywhere else until 7 months regardless of what you, as an owner, may own.
