DD wants to bring one of those pool floatie things the baby sits in with the canopy for DGD who will just turn 1 when we go. Are these allowed in the pools or only coast guard approved life jackets (puddle jumpers etc) I just can’t remember. Thank you

We've used one on several trips. However, we were told no at WL and I believe AoA. I'm not sure of the rule or if it depends on location. The Swan pool, which was great and empty everytime we used it, had no issue with it.

And of course we will be at WL!! I guess we take it and see what happens with the knowledge that we could be told we can’t use it. It will be January so I hope she isn’t just buying it for the trip. It may be too cold to swim anyway and by summer I dont figure an 18 month old would stay in it.

Obviously your daughter can do whatever she wants, but I would strongly recommend against this trip being the first time she uses it. My first daughter loved the baby boat when she was 10-12 months old. My second daughter absolutely hated it because she just wanted to be IN the water.

we were allowed to use at Disney but could not use the canopy because guard could not see bottom of pool

Bottom line there is no published rule for or against that I've seen. It is completely up to the CM on the ground to tell you whether you can us it or not. I will say I can't recall seeing one of those "boats with/out canopy" in the pools, likely they block too much of the pool bottom view. I've only seen much smaller items.

I would go prepared with plan B. I posted some pics of a few that might be more likely allowed to stay. That said at 6 mos I started using the hotel life jackets. Disney's answer might be they provide life jackets for even smaller infants.

Thank you. I personally think she will be too big for the floatie boat thing anyway. It’s her first baby and I don’t think she realizes how much of a change there will be in the next 5 months

My 18 month old used her floaty just the other day at the pool (not Disney, unfortunately haven’t been yet). Every time before she had hated it but she wanted to be in the water and didn’t want to be held so 🤷‍♀️.

How much do they weigh right now? You could try to find out what weights they carry vests for? Or if they’re trending towards being heavy enough, order a puddle jumper?

All that to say, I would bring the floaty just in case and test it out before going.

The only life vests I could find at the pool started at 30 lbs. My daughter is about 24 lbs and I just used those when we were in the quiet pool. sadly I never stepped foot in the main pool at the polynesian. I spent most of my time there at the splash pad.
