Tell me, am I crazy for booking a pool view at AKL? My reasoning behind it is so I can guarantee I'm in a specific part of the resort near the pool obviously, restaurants, and lobby. I didn't want to be stuck at the very end of the kudu trail! And my luck, that's where I would end up if I booked savannah view!(bc you're never really guaranteed that your room requests will be met). Plus, it's cheaper. So those of you who have stayed pool view at AKL, how was it? Do you regret it, wishing you would've stayed savannah? Just wondering if I've made a smart decision or a mistake I'll regret later.

The only time we stayed at Jambo House we stayed in a pool view room. We were very happy with it. Like you said, we were close to everything. There were plenty of spots to go hang out and view the animals.

It is indeed close to everything; no real regrets for staying there except that it was monsoon season and we never got to use the pool!

I LOVE pool view at AKL. We've stayed pool view and savannah view (CL.) I actually prefer pool view for the reasons you mentioned, and because I'd rather see water than animals (my kids do not agree.) The only reason we'd stay in a savannah room again is because we like to stay CL sometimes, and it's automatic with CL. Otherwise, it's pool view at AKL for us. Our next pool view AKL stay is in less than three weeks. :)

We are right behind you, just over 3 weeks until our pool view (starting at the Poly, then AKL).

stayed 4x at AKL and always booked pool view! central location and cant beat that lush view!

Hate to be Debbie Downer but I'll never book it again.

We had savanna our first trip and it was beyond awesome for location, floor, peaceful relaxation, view and animals. Next trip our budget was smaller, I was so afraid of standard view I booked pool view. I got my reality check that while Disney calls them "view" it is really just a logistical location. We had a view of roofs. We had to lean out and look hard right between some branches to see a spot of the pool but at that point we were looking into our neighbor's private space. To add insult to injury being just above the restaurants and main path to the pool it was extremely noisy. And while this shot doesn't show it we usually had a large number of balconies across from us with beach towels over the rails. In the end I paid more for a deluxe balcony and never used it - I may as well had a standard. If I return it will be savanna only.

Same for us! We haven't stayed CL at AKL, but have stayed both pool and savanna view and while the savanna view was nice, I loved our pool view just as much. There are several animal viewing areas around the resort that a savanna view isn't a necessity for us. I do want to try CL sometime, but like this poster, if we didn't book CL, it would be pool view for us as well.

Not a Debby Downer, just very good information to share. Our pool view was wonderful, but it's helpful to know that pool views can vary.

Ok, thanks, this makes me feel better to know that several of you have had wonderful experiences with pool view. I'd like to save as much $$ as possible, so I'm sticking with pool view and fingers crossed, I hope I'll have a great view!

We have had rooms on Sunset Savana, Arusha & pool view. I'd rate Arusha as the best, but we enjoyed our pool view too.
We had Arusha the same trip as pool view. We were there 2 weeks so did a split, I week pool view, 1 week CL Arusha Savana.

You can actually see the AKL pool view room we had in HopperFan's picture. On the left, the third floor down, the room with the green balcony. It was a great view of the pool and the location could not be more perfect! So convenient and close to everything. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I'll post a picture of our view. I would not hesitate to book a pool view room again. I admit I'd be disappointed to have the view HopperFan had, but location is still great. We've had some amazing Savannah view rooms when our kids were young, but with long walks, and since we've already had that experience, close works. :) The memory that sticks out for me the most with this room besides the view and close proximity to everything is the aroma of Boma/Jiko/The Mara! The wood fire left me literally hungry and my mouth watering all day!

We stayed here with a pool view. It was the only room available at the time with bunk beds. We loved it. We used our balcony often. The landscaping is so thick, it was private. We just walked around to view the animals. There are different animals at each savannah, so we enjoyed walking around and using the night vision goggles. Not once did we feel deprived. It's a beautiful resort.

We stayed in a Pool View room at Jambo two years ago.We were on the third floor of zebra trail, two doors down from the elevator. The location was really nice and centrally located, making it very easy to get everywhere. However, the noise coming from the pool at all hours was a real turnoff. Our room looked out over the baby pool and there was a speaker directly in front of our room. YMMV but all in all i would probably stay in the exact same room again, I would just bring something with me for white noise.

Hope you enjoy your stay.
