I believe it was on the exclude list. You were never allowed to use pools if you didn’t have a resort stay at any resort.
Once upon a time you could pool hop to another resort if you were staying somewhere else at that time. Some were excluded. I’m not sure if AKL was one of them.
OP said they were staying @SSR and wanted to know about pool hopping, they never said they weren't staying on property. You were never allowed to use pools if you didn’t have a resort stay at any resort.

So if I was staying at SSR and wanted to use the pool at AKL I was never allowed to do that as a DVC member?
The AKL pool is also off limits for pool hopping.

Ironically in mid 2019 they actually added AKL/V to the list of pools you could hop to & removed the GF from the list of hoppable pools. It wasn’t long after that the pool hopping perk for DVC members ended. From 2008 - even if you were staying at a DVC resort and wanted to use the pool at AKV, you were never allowed to use that pool (just like SAB).

I misinterpreted / misread the quote below:OP said they were staying @SSR and wanted to know about pool hopping, they never said they weren't staying on property.
Follow up to this: if we can use any pool even if not staying at that resort - can we park at that resort to use the pool?
We drive to WDW so I meant, can we drive from our resort to the pool we wanted to use and park at that resort for pool use.. but it looks like the whole issue is null and void since pool hopping has not come back.I misinterpreted / misread the quote below:
No.We have freinds staying at AoA while we'll be next door at Pop. Are we able to do a pool day with them, even though not staying at AoA ?
This is not accurate. Pool hopping remains suspended at all DVC resorts and this can be found on the DVC official website. Having a dining reservation does not mean you can use the pool. Even when pool hopping was a thing, having a dining reservation at BC/YC did not mean you could use Storm Along Bay.As a DVC member, you can generally use the pool at other DVC resorts, but it’s usually only if you’re staying there or have dining/reservation privileges. Pool hopping is allowed but has some restrictions, so it’s a good idea to check the latest guidelines from DVC.
Sorry, this has not been true for many years. As a DVC member, you can generally use the pool at other DVC resorts, but it’s usually only if you’re staying there or have dining/reservation privileges.
