Silly question I know, but my 8 year old wants to know - Is the pool slide at POR longer than the one at POFQ?:rolleyes1

We're trying to decide where to stay, and although he's seen pictures of the cool sea serpent slide at POFQ, we've looked all over for pictures of the slide at POR, and we can't really see much of it in the pictures we found on allearsnet and tripadvisor.

For DH and I, both resorts look wonderful, so it really doesn't matter to us where we stay, but for the kids it's all about the pool slide!:yay:

Slide at POR is longer and a bit faster. I actually liked the pool (and pool bar) at FQ though.

Just in case you didn't know, when you stay at Port Orleans, you can use both pools.

Thanks boomhauer for the info.:)

Good pool bar?.....You read my mind!:thumbsup2

I don't know if you've even considered CSR, but it has the longest pool slide of all WDW resorts.

Both of the slides at POR and POFQ are pretty short. The theming of the POFQ pool is far more young kid-friendly. My younger ds (7) is usually all about the slides, too. However, on our trip to POR (July 13-22), he only went to the main pool on 2 afternoons. The rest of the time, he was happy to visit the quiet pool near our room. The not-so-exciting slide was only one reason for this. Other factors included very hot and humid weather (not a pleasant walk and bathwater warm pool water), very busy main pool (quiet pool was pretty busy too -- just not as much), and extremely strict and somewhat unfriendly lifeguards (heard comments about the guards from pretty much ALL of the guests during our stay).

Yes, we're also considering CSR too. I'm a little nervous about CSR because it's so big, and it's been getting some horrible reviews on tripadvisor lately (although the horrible reviews are mostly from conventioners and not from families on a WDW vacation).

But the size of this resort worries me. It seems there's only one or maybe two buildings that are convenient to both the main pool and the Pepper Market. And what are the chances of getting a room in one of those buildings? They're probably the most requested buildings at the resort. There's some buildings that are WAAAAAAY out there. Of course we stayed at SSR in January, which is also a big resort, but we lucked out and were assigned a room in a building that was about a 5 minute walk from the main pool and the food court. However on that trip, it was just DH and myself, so walking wasn't as much of an issue. This trip we'll have our two little boys with us, so proximity to the main pool and a food court will be more important.

That jaguar slide, the Dig Site pool area, the playground, and the arcade look very fun though.:)

Strongly suggest you avoid CSR when you are a family. My wife and daughter gave up trying to go there due to all the convention guys in suits hanging around the pool area and doing nothing but staring at the women in their bathing suits. It was very creepy. I went down with them and at one point flat out told a guy to move along.

We stayed at POR this april and found the pool area to be super! The slide is really nice and our 7 and 9 year old could go by themselves. The pool bar was also wonderful and we actually did a day where just stayed and hit the POR pool.

We are going again in Jan 08 and thinking about trying POP was we don’t have the inlaws this time and want to save some money by doing the value resort.
