Pool Rules

I have been to Disney so many times but have never noticed the rules regarding snorkel type masks in the pools. I am going on a cruise after our Disney stay and just got a mask snorkel and fins.I have never snorkeld in my life. I was wondering if they would be okay with them in the pool for my son to show me how to use them.

I know that back when i was in 6th grade the lifeguards were really short with both me and my sister for having masks instead of goggles and going down the water slide with them, I think only one lifeguard didn't want us to wear them at all...
I guess at least on the slide they were worried that the glass might get broken

There are no such prohibitions that I'm aware of for the pools in general, though I would agree that they might not wanting you to use them on the slides.

They don't like you to wear something that will cover your nose, but you can wear goggles that only cover your eyes.

1) Most pools don't allow masks and snorkel.
2) It is not mean, just practicality.
3) When you snorkel, guards don't know if you are swimming or dead.
4) When do they rescue you or let you go?

5) Now, if you could only snorkel on your back looking upward . . .

NOTE: My DD was guard and was an instructor of life guards, and masks/snorkels were a no-no. The even told swimmers to take them off or leave the pool.

I guess I can try to learn to use them in the open ocean. I'm just kind of scared not knowing how to breath with the snorkel. And the mask is prescription I could not substitute goggles. I'm a big fraidy cat. I did the eco personal watercraft tour at Castaway Cay. I bet I'm the only one they had to come back and yell out to get moving. I was to scared to do anything but go granny spead.
