Pool Question

Several pools are fenced, and you must scan your magic band to enter. Some other pools do random checks. All resort pools at Disney are for the use of the registered guests of that resort only. Signs are posted at the pools stating the policy.

All other resort facilities (recreation, shops, dining, etc) are available to the general public. Oh, except for fitness centers. Those are also for registered guests of the resort.

Beaches....a little bit of a gray area. Depends on the resort, but generally, walking on the beach or sitting in a lounge chair for awhile is OK. Beach access can be restricted at certain times of year or during special events. Keep in mind that guests are not permitted in any lake, pond, creek, river, or other non-pool body of water at WDW, so if you're thinking of the beach as an alternative to swimming in the pool, that won't work.

So where's the best beaches In Wdw to relax. Would u say the polly

The Poly is nice as is the beach at the YC/BC
You know though that there is no swimming in the waters in the lakes at WDW , right?
And the beaches are for the guests of the resort they are staying at. That could be enforced at any time. WDW is not really a "beach" vacation.
Ocean beaches are over an hour drive away.

Well we are going for two weeks and my partner wanted a beach holiday I wanted Orlando

However we went half way and said we won't just do parks every minute. So what do u suggest doing that's more relaxing to keep her happy. Good places to have a drink, beach etc

Spend a day at your resort, hanging out at your own pool. Go for a drive to the beach. Go to the parks and pick a quiet area to relax and people watch.

Explain your situation to the Lifeguards at the Pool you are going to use.

They have the authority to say yes or no-it is "their" Pool.

Since you have Guests staying at each Resort, they will most likely say yes.:)

This is what I did when we were at AK. A friend was at FT Wilderness with her daughter, and she wanted to have lunch with us. I asked the lifeguard and was given permission. It is safer to ask and take a chance that you cannot than to make your own decision and end up embarrassed.

That really isn't up for us to decide. It is quite clearly against the rules for people to swim at a resort when they are not a paying guest of that resort. The only people who can give the OK are the lifeguards, as they are in charge of the pool area.

Yes. Best to ask, I think.

Well, I think that one of the nicest and most relaxing areas is the Beach Club area. WE love to stroll on the Boardwalk, stop for a treat (or a cocktail) and just enjoy the ambiance. There is a beach area that has hammock and lounge chairs, and there is a large veranda by the main entrance that faces the Boardwalk. I know I enjoyed sitting there, but my DH would wander down to the beach and fall asleep on a lounge chair. I have never seen anyone checking who is who there, so I do think it is a common area.

If you are resort hopping you can head to the monorail resorts. In the afternoon the lounge at the Poly is dark and cool and reminds me of a beach bar. Then go to the Grand, admire the lobby, and if it daytime go to an outdoor bar for a cocktail and bring it back to the second floor. There is a large deck overlooking the grounds, and it is lovely. If you are there in the evening, bring a bottle of wine down to the marina and enjoy Wishes and the ELP.

You can go out to the poolside bar that faces the lagoon. WE will either sit on the beach or on a patio table on the far side of the bar. It is pretty nice there as well. I admit I don't resort hop for cocktails, and relaxing, but I do think that the poly lounge is pretty nice.

I have not been to the Poly much since the refurb, so I am not sure what the beach area is like now. You used to be able to relax on a hammock with a cocktail, but someone who has stayed there recently would know how that is now.

If you want to hang on a beach, stay at a resort with beaches for the resort guests. I can think of Poly, GF, Coronado and Caribbean Beach for starters.

You might consider staying at Caribbean or Coronado. They both have great theming and quiet pools. You can sit on hammock on the beach at CBR IIRC, near one of the quiet pools in the preferred section. From about 9am to 2pm its very quiet because most people are in the parks.

Or just rent a car and take a day trip to the coast? I live near Cape Cod so I've never done it, but it seems lots of people visiting WDW do.

We'll just find something else to do together. We only thought maybe pool since we can walk between the resorts and it would be easy. We aren't trying to break any rules or get one over on Disney, we were just not sure if that was allowed or not.

What u need a magic band to go in the pool ?

So what can u do if u go to other resorts. Go on beaches ?

Not sure why you would want to head to a resort, that you aren't staying at, just to sit on their beach. But, if that's what you want to do, go for it. The BC has some chaises out on the beach...at least they did when I was over there in Jan. The Polynesian doesn't really have seating on the beach, at least they didn't when I was there last. That could have changed. There won't be any drink service on the beaches.

As far as pool usage goes, if you aren't staying at that resort, you aren't supposed to swim there. Pretty simple. If everyone headed over to the Polynesian, for instance, wanting a nice mid-day break from the MK, and plopped down for a nice swim, soon there wouldn't be any room for those guests paying to stay at the resort!! And that's not right!! So, you can ask a lifeguard, upon arrival, if you can swim. But, be prepared to be turned away. And if you try to just go in and take your chances? The lifeguards can, and do, make sweeps around the pool asking to see MKs, which they then swipe to make sure the guest is a guest of the resort.

Agreed. However, I don't think it's fair to compare this situation to the one in the original post. OP isn't trying to stay at a value and sneak into a deluxe. OP is trying to coordinate two parties, staying at resorts in the same level with only a bridge separating them, to spend some resort time together. If she decides to ask the lifeguard/resort, there is a 99.9999% chance they will be okay with it.

Where are you staying?

People used to do this ALL THE TIME. That's why the pool is now gated.

Possibly not. They do enforce POP and AoA because they're so close, particularly Big Blue Pool.

Sitting at a beach nowhere near your room, without the ability to go in the water, doesn't sound like a beach holiday to me.

What if you split it up? One week in Cocoa Beach and one week in Orlando? Or maybe go to the west coast of Florida for those beaches, instead?

Having semi-recently realized that I can in fact be a beach person, I know that sitting on a beach at the Poly is NOT anything like a beach vacation for me. I personally feel that your partner is going to be 100% disappointed if that's the compromise.

Sure. But then you risk ending up with some kids all ready to swim being told Sorry, Nope.

We are staying at the GF and renting a cabana for a half day. Friends of ours are coming to hang out with us for a few hours before they check into their hotel (not GF and not sure if they're staying on property yet). I emailed the concierge who said we could get them added as day guests but have to wait until we're actually checked in to do it. Once they are registered as our day guests, they can use the facilities. I did ask if they have a resort guest fee and they said no. That would make more sense to me, as charging for access would be the best way to cut down on requests.
