I know pool hopping isn't allowed, but if we're staying at Art of Animation and have friends staying at Pop Century and would like some pool time together would that be allowed since at least a few of us would be staying at that resort?

No. In Disney's eyes the "some" that aren't staying there would be pool hopping and that will not be allowed.

I think the technical answer is "no", but the realistic answer is "who is going to stop you?" Unless you're pool-hopping to a Deluxe, I don't think anyone is checking anything.

Explain your situation to the Lifeguards at the Pool you are going to use.

They have the authority to say yes or no-it is "their" Pool.

Since you have Guests staying at each Resort, they will most likely say yes.:)

BUT there is no way to know ahead of time if they will say yes or no.

I don't think this will be a problem. You are less likely to have issues at Pop Century than at AoA though - with the gated pool it would just be a pain to have to potentially deal with letting people in etc. If you all enter at once and leave at once probably not an issue.

That really isn't up for us to decide. It is quite clearly against the rules for people to swim at a resort when they are not a paying guest of that resort. The only people who can give the OK are the lifeguards, as they are in charge of the pool area.

I agree, but just giving my opinion. Day guests are allowed to visit registered guests at resorts typically when occupancy is not an issue, so that's why I don't think it will be a problem.

What u need a magic band to go in the pool ?

So what can u do if u go to other resorts. Go on beaches ?
Officially, not always. For instance, signs at the Poly say their beaches are for use of Poly guests only. Not always enforced.

Some amenities are allocated to the use of those staying at the resort. Pools are generally in that category. AOA do enforce some at Big Blue Pool in particular; the new gates going in make screening easier.

For swimming? You cannot swim in the lakes at WDW. You are free to visit other resorts, but you cannot use their pools. Each pool is an amenity for guests of that resort only.

You can shop at other resorts, hang out in the bar, or eat at the restaurants. But you are not allowed to swim in their pools if you are not a registered guest.

My sister-in-law and her family camp a lot at Ft. Wilderness. They have seen CM's checking magic bands and asking people to leave.

Several pools are fenced, and you must scan your magic band to enter. Some other pools do random checks. All resort pools at Disney are for the use of the registered guests of that resort only. Signs are posted at the pools stating the policy.

All other resort facilities (recreation, shops, dining, etc) are available to the general public. Oh, except for fitness centers. Those are also for registered guests of the resort.

Beaches....a little bit of a gray area. Depends on the resort, but generally, walking on the beach or sitting in a lounge chair for awhile is OK. Beach access can be restricted at certain times of year or during special events. Keep in mind that guests are not permitted in any lake, pond, creek, river, or other non-pool body of water at WDW, so if you're thinking of the beach as an alternative to swimming in the pool, that won't work.

We OFTEN are WDW with other families almost always staying in different resorts. We plan a water park day and hang out, eat, visit, have fun. We never pool hop to their resort or they ours because it is not permitted.

We spend plenty of time with them at parks, dining or waterpark .... our resort time/pool time is for our family.
