Pool question - I know....

I'm a veteran Disney goer. We are DVC and I am pretty much a rule follower.
But, I do sometimes follow the spirit of the law rather than the letter...
So, here's my question - is the following a major transgression - or is it just jaywalking with no traffic in sight...
I'm staying at my home resort - AKL. I'll be there with two other families - also staying at AKL.
Coincidentally, I have a friend whose daughter is in class with my daughter. They will be in Disney during some of the same days - but staying at a different Disney resort.
I have stayed at AKL during this time period before - and the pool has never been crowded.
How big a deal would it be for my daughters friend to just have a couple of hours of pool time at our resort so the children can play together?

If one of you-a current guest-has a friend over, I think that's totally legit.
Whew! That's what I figured. Of the three families stay at AKL, none of us even have capacity in the room ... It's 3,3 and 2.... So I can't see why it would be a big problem if her friend came for a bit... Thanks for chiming in.

From DVCMember.com:
When staying on your Membership at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, or Disney's Vero Beach Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your Magic Band or current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

They can't use a pool at AKL unless they are listed on an AKL/AKV reservation. Members can't even hoop to the AKL/AKV pools, they must be a guest of the resort.

I disagree. If they are checking magic bands, she may be asked to leave.

Where is she staying? If it's one of the resorts that allows DVC pool hopping, you could go there.

Actually it is not. You must be a guest at that resort to swim in the pool. There are signs all over the place that state that!

However, if it is not busy the lifeguard has discretion and can allow people to have guests. But you have to ask right when you want to have the guest, and you have to be prepared to be told No.

DVC Members are allowed to pool hop with some restrictions.

Yep. And even with the restrictions in place she is not allowed to have a guest, unless the lifeguard oks it. They are allowed only if the guest is listed in the room.

To make absolutely sure, since you aren't at capacity you could add her to the room. That way she would be totally legit.

Personally, I think 'pool hopping' is different from having someone accompany you as a guest, though I'm sure many will disagree. *shrug*

It does not matter what any of us think. What matters is what Disney allows.

OP ask the lifeguard. If there is room, your friend should be allowed in. Maybe not, but best to ask and not be embarrassed later

Ok - it may not even be something we wind up wanting to do. I was just trying to gauge how big a transgression it would be.
Thanks to everyone who gave their opinions!

As DVC members staying at a DVC resort, you have pool hopping privileges - so unless they're staying at the Beach Club or Bay Lake Towers (the only resorts other than AK that doesn't allow hopping), you could instead join your friends at their resort's pool.
