Pool Question BC vs. BWI

Besides the fantastic pool BC/YC have a lovely man made beach also.
A night they do a campfire on the beach and then have movie night. My kids loved this.

Another thing that bothers me about the Scary Clown Pool (otherwise known as Pennywise) - where the slide exit is, it makes it looks like a child has been eaten and then regurgitated!

I'd just like to say when I stayed at YC I booked looking forward to the sand-bottomed pool. I never did experience it since during our stay it was terribly crowded as was the hot tub, so much so we used the quiet pool and hot tub there.

Also KOOK thanks for posting the great pics of Luna Park, one of the reasons I picked to stay at BW in March is the pool that I think is one of the most uniquely themed pools I have ever seen. Where else might you get a shower from and elephant or a snack sitting at a carousel. I am not a fan of rollar coasters but again what better than a roller coaster slide. And as far as the clown being scary I grew up with Bozo and happen to love clowns. As child clowns were a big part of my life at parades and the circus, whats not to love about Luna Park?

With the exception of the campfire the Luna Park pool area and other WDW Resort pools also show movies, so that is something which is not unique or exclusive to guests staying at the Yacht Club/Beach Club/Beach Club Villas.

I don't think I said it was the only resort that showed movies and had a campfire on the beach. If I'm not mistaken BWI doesn't have a beach area right? I just said my kids loved going down to the BC/YC beach area for the campfire and movie night. They had a lot of fun roasting marshmallows and making smores at the campfire. Really, everything doesn't have to be a competition!

Our then 5 & 6 year old grandsons loved SAB. They had a great time playing on the sand with other kids their ages. They enjoyed other parts to swim in. It was a daily routine for them...sometimes it seemed more fun than the parks for them! Re: keeping an eye on the little ones. We never had a problem seeing them. Lots of adults who are also keeping an eye out on all. Enjoy whichever resort you stay at!

OK I will tell you my rule breaking story. We are Grand fans but I stay once a year at BC/YC for my kids so they can do Star Wars weekends and swim at SAB. Last year I walked over to BW and yes pool hopped. (shoot me now) because my 6 year old wanted to see the pool. Being I was using a DVC membership of my cousins I think it may have been legal. After literally 15 min he claimed the pool was lame and wanted to go back to BC. That to me speaks volumes. I have stayed at BWI it is a beautiful resort. The pool is not great. I would prefer GF or Poly to BWI. The best pool on property hands down is SAB. I dont like BC resort but love their pool. The rooms do nothing for me but with the pool and location I give in and stay there during one of our 3 trips per year. You may like it or hate it but the kids will love the pool.

No, it is not a competition, I am just expressing my opinion.

Tara - it's not just you.

Some posters make me nuts -

The BC "Hater"
The Poly Dude
and the "Precious Snowflake" Mom who was so mad that Disney didn't do MORE for them when the POR Royal Rooms weren't ready. An upgrade to a deluxe wasn't enough - Disney should have given them special fastpasses to meet the princesses!
This is only one example and I can quote you many when you and others on the BC thread have resorted to personal attacks on me (BC Hater) and other DIS posters who are not in love with the BC. Do you really think that calling people who don't have the same opinion as you Village Idiots appropriate? (Posted on page 116 of the YC/BC Faq thread) Would you like me to refer to you as BC Wacko with a clown pool phobia? I don't think so. In fact I thought that Disboards had a policy against personal attacks.

I have never personally attacked you or any of the other BC lovers, and I would appreciate it if you could treat me with the same respect.

This is what I wrote and I stand by it. I made no mention of you or anyone else specifically. However, if you think the shoe fits then you should wear it. I can't help what you feel or how you perceive yourself.

Welcome CruisingKat.

We really do love everybody.... but on the rare occasion, a village idiot starts harping incessantly about non issues and raises the ire of sensible people. Add to that a propensity for said idiot to pose as other people and post on various boards in an effort to bolster his meaningless whining and you've got a whole group of people here that are just not going to take it when he and his cronies (both real and imagined) tries to demean Cast Members or disparage the reputation of hard working hotel employees!

Lately there's been a lot of insanity on various threads with assorted Village Idiots coming out of the woodwork and rearing their ugly heads.

We want you to know that you, and anybody else for that matter, are welcome here. We love it when people have questions about the Beach Club/Yacht Club and Beach Club Villas. A lot of us have stayed there and we have the experience to helpfully answer your questions. We can also relay our experiences with various situations that are commonly encountered by a wide variety of guests.

So feel free to join in. Reading page 1 is essential as a lot of your answers will be found there AND you will find out tons of helpful information that you didn't even know you needed yet!

We are so glad to have you! You are really in for a treat when you discover all the great things about the resort! :thumbsup2

WELCOME!! :cheer2:

~Marlton Mom..... and all the rest of us I'm sure!!

Well at least in the post below you didn't call me a Village Idiot.

Oh My!! It seems like the pool Noodles are getting involved in a thrown down with our old "BWI fan/ nemesis of BC club level" over which place has the better pool.

Per chance do any of the Veterans of SAB wish to give their feed back about their experiences in our sandy bottomed slice of heaven?
And I was the one being accused of making this a compeititon from DisneyMomx7? Looks like the competition is coming from certain posters on the YC/BC thread.

What's wrong with asking people who have experience with the pool at Storm Along Bay to share that experience and provide information to the original poster's query?

I have never called you or any other poster an idiot or any other inappropriate name. The thing that makes me nuts is when someone who has only stayed one night at a resort (and some have NEVER stayed at the resort) go on and on about how awful the resort is.

Also it is my dd that has the clown phobia - do you want to call a child a wacko? That is a common childhood phobia.

Your problem seems to be that you can't let anyone say anything good about BC at all. It has to be BWI or CR and that's it. We've stayed at many resorts and while BC is our favorite I'm not writing threads bashing the Poly or the GF. Everyone has their favorite resort - no need to disparage other resorts just because they are not your cup of tea.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread but this has been coming for quite some time.

CR FFL....Maybe I can explain it to you with two examples and appeal to you to see our feelings. Here are two questions that I found on the first couple pages of your replies (out of many, many 'replies' about BC. There have been many in the last year (or whenever you spent your one night there) that you have sent a backhand slam under the guise of "in your opinion". We all know your opinion. But when you slam the CM's at BC you are slamming our friends. When you slam the BC you slamming our home. You can surely see where we would be upset. We ignored for a long time hoping you were just getting out of your system or giving 'your opinion'. That is fine but you seem to turn any otherwise normal healthy question into a "Why I Hate The Beach Club and You Should Too" answer.

My examples (and mind you it took my about two minutes to find these on the first pages of your replies).

Board Question
We have become Beach Club resort people the past two years. My daughters love SAB and we love the proximity to Epcot. What would we love about the Boardwalk if we were to stay there? Looks beautiful and I was thinking of maybe switching it up this year.

Your Answer
Their Luna Park Pool area is a lot less busy and crazy when compared to Stormalong Bay. Now a big reason for that it's a lot smaller when comparing both locations, however I personally think it's a lot better and I say Stormalong Bay is very overated. So the fact it has a sand in the pool doesn't impress me.
Finally if you see others mention the Boardwalk has long hallways well the Beach Club hallways are just as along and this depends on where your room is located. Plus I personally thought the Beach Club hallways were a lot longer, however that's only my opinion from what I saw.

Board Question
Poly/Beach Club split stay

Hi everyone - I am planning a trip to Disney next January (end of month). We have stayed Poly previously and love it but the kids are now 10 and 14 and will spend alot of time in Epcot so also want to try Beach or Yacht Club. When we go we stay Concierge as we like the convenience of popping in the lounge. I know where to stay at Poly but have no idea what the best rooms are at Beach/Yacht. We want a full balcony but not sure what the rooms are like in Concierge. What kind of view do you have? I would also consider the other rooms that I believe are deluxe at Beach Club but have Club level access. Any help would be appreciated. Our plan would be to stay Epcot resort first and then head over to Poly. Thanks you for your help.

Your Answer

One major con about staying Club Level at the Beach Club is that their lounge is very small and in my opinion it's almost like you feel claustraphobic because you are that close to the other tables. Plus the Cast Members who clear the dirty plates off the tables are standing very close to you and looking at you which in my opinon doesn't make for a relaxing atmosphere.

Maybe you can see that neither of these answers are anywhere close to replies to the questions but an opportunity to slam our Home and Friends.

Thank you for your consideration. (And I do mean this sincerely).

OK, this is just my opinion after staying a few times at the BWI, which is my favourite resort, and the YC once - I'm also staying at the BC for the first time this year and looking forward to it :goodvibes

The pool at the BWI is, in my opinion, based on when I've been there before (May and November), busy, as are I'm sure most of the resort pools. I'm not a lover of the theming, but that is just my opinion, everyone likes different things, to me it seems chaotic, whereas others might ask what on earth am I on about lol

I love, love, love the BWI quiet pool though, very quiet and classy. It's in a beautiful location in the gardens by the cottages, love it.

Based on my one stay at the YC, Stormalong Bay (obviously still busy, it's a Disney resort pool afterall ;) ), I loved this too. There's a good variety of different areas to please most people and the hot tubs are great.

I can't wait to give the BC a try and dip my toe into Stormalong Bay after a break of 6 years.

Mike, well said.

I normally choose to stay out of these discussions, but I have watched this "situation" unfold since the beginning and I want to get this in before this thread shuts down.

When you returned from your stay at the BC and posted your negative review on the FAQ thread, I did not take offense to your comments. I was disappointed that you didn't enjoy my favorite resort, but that is ok.

The folks on the FAQ board did not get riled up until we started seeing continual slams of the resort any time the letters BC appeared in any thread.

A Mike points out, a lot of times the comments were not related to the query posted and only served to fan the flames of a fire we didn't start.

Wow!!! I never thought this would be such a hotly debated topic :confused3

IMHO .... Bottom Line

If your preference is more of a "water park" type experience, then SAB is the pool of choice .... hands down (My personal favorite at WDW)

If your preference is more of a traditional, smaller, simple and relaxed WDW pool type experience, then the BWI pool would be a better fit.

As far as pool operating hours goes .... i'm not really certain .... we tended to go to the pools during the hottest part of the day.

I guess it's hard for the people on the BC thread to accept that not everything is perfect all the time. If this is perceived as slamming your friends and slamming your home then so be it.

What I have never done is continually slam other Dis posters or call them insulting names. Go back and read the posts on the BC/YC thread, and there is a group of certain posters who seem to get a big kick out of making fun of myself, or Poly Dude, or a guest who complained about an upgrade to the Poly. Never mind that out of the last 100 posts probably 50% have nothing to do with the BC/YC, do you think it is ok to call people Village Idiots, (but then claim that they weren't referrring to anyone in particular), say that they have a "screw loose", or use other terms and decriptions that should be unacceptable on Disboards?

Here is just a sample of some of the garbage that has been written. I can go on and give at least another dozen rude and insulting posts, but all anyone has to do is go back, read the posts, and see for themselves:

TaraPA said:
LOL don't worry, I'm not stalking you. Does it make you nervous that I know Poly Dude's itinerary & what luggage he has?

There's no drama on the current new Poly thread (created 2 days ago) - nothing other than Poly Dude still running his mouth on everything like he's now Mr. Poly Info...it's the previous Poly thread that got nasty...moved over to the POR Royal Refurb thread for awhile too (most of those posts have been removed or edited though)

Honestly when someone on here posted the other day that they thought 'BC Hater' was a socially awkward girl I spit my drink out. I knew it was a guy, but I always thought he wasn't all there as well! The posts just don't all seem quite right sometimes...like there's a few screws loose somewhere...

Swear to God I'm throwing the phone book in SAB on my next trip & taking a picture & posting it on there. THAT might make him shut up! No, wait, then he'll either post that HE has a pic of a phone book in Luna Park Pool, because it's only FAIR that he gets to post that too, or he'll say "that's not a pic of SAB" like he did about Jade's gorgeous pic of the BC Beach.

So we have the Great Pool Deabte of 2012 as well as the Poly/POR Royal Room Debacle of 2012! Glad to say I'm part of both! :woohoo:

I would hope that in the future the moderators would review the posts on the BC/YC thread to remove any of this insulting language.

And in the future I would hope that when some one goes out of their way to manufacture any opportunity to whine over and over again about the same things, more people would step up and let that person know that they are out of line and we really don't need to revisit the complaints endlessly.

Everybody has a right to their opinion, even ones that don't jibe with what other people experience or believe. The problem comes about when the poster chooses to harp on a matter. In the end, on the BC/YC/BCV FAQ forum all are welcome, whether they have good or bad opinions of their experiences. If they choose to continually draw attention to themselves by constantly stating their negative views in unproductive and unhelpful ways it's only natural that people would get tired of that and try to provide the perspective that is lacking in those types of posts.

+1

I've never seen anyone on the two resort threads I frequent (BC and POFQ) treat people with different opinions to that resort badly, in fact the BC's tend to embrace it and talk about it. Some of the most prolific people on that thread have had complaints they just tend to deal with them in a polite and respectful manner without whinning over trival items, and acting like one problem is an every day occurance. Logical minds know that life is all in perception. You don't like something, no problem but don't use it to start a campaign everytime someone mentions the place or recomends it, then complain when people take offense.

I'm sorry that the original thread got off kelter but it seems as though she got her answer and I'm glad she can make an informed decision.

My husband and I love SAB and we are old and retired. We actually live (and I work at WDW 2 days a week) nearby. We book a 3 or 4 night vacation at the BC every summer JUST TO USE SAB and it is never crowded in the pool. The pool is huge. We never have problems getting seats or finding room to get in the pool. It's 3 acres!! There is no other resort (and we love other WDW resorts) we would spend the money for (our home is free and close) at WDW ... we do it at the BC strictly for Stormalong Bay!!! The pool at BW is just a pool. Nothing special!

I haven'tread through the whole thread, because I couldn't agree more!!!!!!
