Hi there, with 2 small boys who suffer bad jetlag (up at 1.30 am on the first morning last time) we are up and ready to go early in the mornings.. what time do the hotel pools open? Also when do they shut?

Thanks

Most pools with life guards (B&YC, BW for sure) open at 10:00. :)
Not sure what time they officially close, when life guards go off duty. But the hours are posted. :)

Slides have set hours of operation, and lifeguards are only watching set hours, but aren't most pools now 24 hours? (Of course be courteous to other guests and keep the noise down) BCV's Stormalong bay is locked off hours.

They used to advertise the BWV pool as a unique 24 hour pool, but I think any non-SAB pool is available.

To my knowledge, most of the DVC pools are open 24 hours a day. However the slides close at 10:00 p.m. I believe, and the life guard times are also limited. We personally have gone for a swim many times late in the evening. It's great, you pretty much have the pool to yourself. :thumbsup2

We've been swimming in the quiet pool at BCV as early as 6am. There's no lifeguard, but the pool area isn't locked. The only main pool where I've seen a sign saying that the pool is closed, is at Jambo House at AKV. Not sure about other places.

Oh..and I feel the OP on the jet lag thing. When we went to Hawaii, my 2 kids were ready to go at 3am!

The pools all have posted hours on the sign at the pool. They are not 24 hours. But usually you can swim 24 hours if you are quiet. But no slides when lifeguards are not present.

And they close the pools in the early morning when they do pool maintenance.

All very interesting and useful information, thank you everyone! Of course we are staying in Jambo house, so it would be that pool that is shut in the mornings LOL. BUT we can get outside to look at the animals early can't we?

Iggipolka... jetlag is a nightmare isn't it!

Jambo pool is open 7 a.m. to midnight but lifeguards don't show up till about 10 and leave about 7 in the evening. The central animal viewing area that is off the lobby is always open.

One year they did the pool maintenance at 2am at WL. If the kids can be quiet, I'd go whatever time you want...perhaps the hot tub would tire them to lay back down for another couple of hours. The time change for them must be hard.

Hee hee, not sure my 5yo has a volume control! ;)

nice to know that the viewing area is always open. :)

The animal viewing areas are open, but, certain times during the day, the animals are brought inside for special food and exams. We usually stay at Kidani, and this time was usually starting about 6 am and then the animals would be allowed back outside about 9-10 am. The last visit, our room was close enough to the facility that we could see the animals in the fenced in area, and hear the people who were working. This is also the time when the areas are mowed and cleaned of animal droppings, and new food is put out on the savanna. I'm not sure when it's done at Jambo house. Watching the staff due maintenance on the savanna is mildly entertaining. Probably there are different times for the different savannas. The fact that the animals are not available to be seen early in the morning sometimes speeds up our breakfast time, since we can't sit on the balcony and watch animals.
