"pool" jumping?

Leaving in just 14 days to stay at the WL. We've never stayed there before and are very excited. We've previously stayed at POFQ, GF, and CB. This time we are taking our two little ones (ages 1 and 2). Here's a question that I've always had...if you are staying on site, is it "legal" to go to another resort's pool. We are very interested in the WL pool, but have heard phenomenal things about the BC's pool as well. Anyone "pool" hopped? What can you share?

It is against Disney policy to "pool hop." No swimming in a resort's pool unless you are staying at that resort.

While in the beginning when there were just a few Disney Resorts pool hopping was "legal". But it no longer is legal to do. And the Y/BC Stormalong bay...you now must show a room key and get a specical braclet.

While some people still break the rules. Most abide by the rules.

You hit a topic that has been discussed here with some heated emoitions. As someone else suggested just do a search and you will most likely find lot of interesting information.

Pool Hopping is prohibited for everyone but DVC members staying at DVC resorts (and even then they cannot hop to the pools at AKL or YC/BC SAB). This is currently a DVC member perk, and could be eliminated at any time. Officially, you are supposed to have your resort ID (room key) available to be checked by CMs supervising the pools; IMO they do not check IDs often enough.

I stayed at the Dolphin a few years ago. I hung out at the pool while wife and daughter went to TL. Anyone could have come over and jumped in. It was pretty empty and this was spring break in mid March. You'd think being a short walk from Epcot they'd check or something. I'm not suggesting anyone break the rules, but I could imagine that slipping out of Epcot for an afternoon swim in July would be pretty neat for anyone.

The pool is really plain and there wasn't any shade. Nowhere near as cool as YC/BC.

But this way 4 or 5 years ago. They might be paying more attention now.

Not only is it against Disney policy to pool hop, using common sense, how would you feel if you came out to swim at the WL and couldn't go in because it was filled with guests from other resorts. Probably not too happy......enough said!

I have to agree with sugermouse. When we stayed at the Contemporary, I had a really hard time getting 2 chairs for my DD and me at the pool between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Forget finding a table so we could eat a nice lunch there. I figured that everyone was doing what we were doing - taking an afternoon break from the park. If I thought that some of the people using the chairs and tables were not hotel guests, I would have been very upset. I had to save for a really long time to stay at the Contemporary (something I have wanted to do since I was a kid). It wouldn't be fair at all if my time there was less enjoyable due to non-paying visitors.
I don't mean to sound disagreeable, but these resorts are expensive and their guests deserve the right to enjoy the pools that they paid to use without others doing it for free.
I think it is considerate of you to ask before taking your trip!

oh no I was planning on using the pool at GF while my DS5 does the Pirate cruise. I figured I could sneak in one of those Slipper deserts too. I am staying at AKL Should I ask at the Concierge desk when I make the reservation? I mean the cruise is only about 3 hours. I would just be getting where i want to go and it would be time to go collect him.

Any suggestions?

Why don't you do tea at the GF? there is a beach there too- maybe you could take a good book and sit under one of the umbrellas and relax.

Relax-- this is my vacation There is no relaxing.

I can have my son eat in the CL. The older kids are going to epcot. My DH and I can have a nice bfast. ok im off to check the menus.

I think I already know the answer to this one but would appreciate anyone else's input.
We're travelling to Florida from the UK in Jan 2005 and will be staying at CSR for 5 days.
I made the mistake of showing my DD age 5 a picture of the Fantasia pool at All Stars as that is where we were originally going to stay. Problem now is that she wants to see the 'Mickey Pool'. Do you think if I maybe call or ask at the desk they might let us in for a short while one day?
Chances are that once we get there she'll forget all about it with so much else to do but, just in case........

I believe you are referring to the Dolphin's lap pool. There is a main pool for the S/D called the Grotto Pool which is IMHO only second to SAB at the YC/BC.

I may be wrong but I remember seeing a sign whilst staying at the GF stating that the pools and beaches of the resort are for the exclusive use of GF guests. I didn't think you were allowed to use other resorts beaches as well as pools.
