We are renting a home with a pool this dec. We have to pay per day to have it heated. I was wondering to all who live or visit in dec. what is the average temp. Are we going to need the pool heated everyday? TIA

Most people recommend heating a pool from Oct-April. Knowing that you will be a couple of months past the start of that timne frame I would recommend getting the pool heated.

It can be chilly at nights, and sometimes even in the days.

Some places do require heating for the whole week you are there, some will do it by day but it can take the good part of a day to heat up if it has not been heated. If you only plan on having it heated for part of the time, plan your park days first or pool days first and then turn it on/off when you switch to save some money.

Last time we rented a pool home it was early October. We did not have the pool heated and it was quite warm in the days but the pool temp was quite a bit cooler by the time we used it each night. Daylight is less that time of year so the pool won't be heated by sun nearly as much either.

Oh yeah,You are certainly going to need pool heat every day in December. We went the beginning of last December and it was about 40-50 degrees in the morning hours and a about in the 60's to 70 degrees later. It can be really cool in the early mornings and evenings. We were very happy for the pool heat but it was in no way warm. Not even luke warm.Kinda cool if you ask me even with pool heat.
Maybe someone else has had a different experience.

In most homes the temperature for the pool is set around 85 degrees but the results you get are dependent on a few factors.
The air temperature -if it drops below around 55 the effect of the heater will be lost anyway.
Has the owner got a pool cover -if not then again the heat built up during the day whilst the heater is on will be lost at night
If yes then make sure you use it -put it n everynight and the pool will be ready for use in the morning.
As regards the actual heating itself it is not worth your while having it on for a day here and there as it can take up to 24 hoiurs to start to reach the temperature it is set at.Also the man co may well well charge you for each visit they have to make to do it so my advice is get it heated keep it on and use the cover if there is one.

I would get it, on the off chance you may want to swim. If it's not heated-- the water is going to be too cold, especially since the air isn't going to be that hot and muggy 85-90. We are planning on going for 2 weeks at the beginning of February. We will rent a house (have done this in the past too). Only this time I want a hot tub as well as a pool. That way if it's really not swimming weather, we still have the hot tub to enjoy.

in 2002 when we rented our first home pool heat was one of the problems we had

we had paid for the week in advance since we were there in MArch and our kids love to swim

it was n't on when we arrived sat.
the pool heat guy didn't work on the weekend so monday he turned it on
by wed we had really nice warm water

and we left sat so paid for a week and only got 3 days of pool heat
at first they didn't want to refund us but they did

anyway my point is it took forever to heat up after they had turned it on so you don't want to wait to make the decision there

i say it is definatly nice to have the pool heated

have a good trip

We are going to a vacation home in November and we are planning on paying for the pool to be heated.

For the place that we are renting I dont believe that you can pay for heating of the pool per day but rather the length of your stay. We are staying their for seven days and it was a set rate for pool heating-I think it was like $150 or something. But I think it will be well worth it because we will be in the pool in the night time when we come back to the house and not really so much during the daytime.
