I already posted these scans on another thread, but I think there needs to be a new thread on just the topic of pool hours at the Fort, so more people will see it, and we can hopefully get a definitive answer on this issue.

For as long as I can remember, the Fort Wilderness pools were open 24/7. The Fort Wilderness Gazette (the newsletter you get when you check in) has always stated:

This clearly says that the pools were open 24 hours a day.

And they were.

I remember visiting the Meadow Pool after midnight one hot August night at midnight, and finding it packed!

In late 2009, the FW Gazette was replaced by a little publication called the Directory of Services.

This is what that document said about the pool hours in April, 2010:

According to this, the pools are closed from midnight until 7 am.

I have only been to the Fort a few times since these hours were published, and I have not visited either pool after midnight.

I did notice that the Cabin pool now is completely fenced in, so they could lock folks out when it is closed, if they wanted to.

The Meadow pool is not fenced in.

Has anyone used either pool after midnight in 2010?

Is anyone happy about this?

I asked that question when we were there in February and the Lifeguard said the Meadow's pool was still 24/7 even though the flyer had the limited hours. :confused3

It might be one of those C.Y.A. things. If something happens the can say the pool was closed!

The pool should be 24/7. It was just cool to tell people that were staying at other resorts that our pool never closed and after closing down MK at 1am we would go for a swim.pirate:

I can’t tell you the fun we had with secerity. Almost every weekend at the main pool we use the slide. There is an alarm if people use the slide when it is closed. So secerity came all the time and all they would say is we can use the pool and hot tub but not the slide

My brother in law and his wife used the pool late in March. They would go down usually from 2-4am and swim. Sometimes a CM would be cleaning the pool and wouldn't look twice at them. They loved it because they had the whole pool to themselves. Hope that helps you!

Well, I am not sure if this helps me or not.

Did your brother in law notice any naked men sliding down the slide at around 3 am (i.e. DisCamper)?

If not, then I am not sure if this information is accurate. It seems that we are getting conflicting reports here.:confused3

Now where did I put that mental floss??? :rotfl:

We were just at FW last week. The lifeguards went off duty and shut down the slide and kiddie splash area at 9PM each night. They announced that it was 'swim at your own risk' from 9 to midnight and that the pool would close at midnight. We stayed until midnight on two nights and noticed a CM walk into the pool area and start cleaning up at that time. On one night, we saw a group of people coming in just as we were leaving at midnight. I don't know if they were asked to leave, but I'm guessing they weren't because I didn't see them head back in our direction. The spa is supposed to close (per the sign at the spa) at 10PM, but it was still on and bubbly during both of our late nights at the pool.

Just got home from the Fort this afternoon. I had to pull out the "Directory of Services". It says that the pool is open from 7am to 12 midnight. We were in site 1634 which has a backyard view of the pool area. I was sitting outside last night around 11:30pm & the pool was doing a fairly good business. I didn't stay up to witness the "Closing of the Pool Ceremony", however. Maybe Donnie did. I saw his cart go by enough times! :rolleyes1
