I have friends staying at Shades of Green next week, can they pool hop to Poly or GF?

Pool Hopping is a big debate here...The rule of Disney is No..

Unless the pool is closed, then I think they tell you what pool you can use.

ask the front desk of the hotel. They will tell you if you are allowed for that day.

Officially - WDW is likely to tell you NO.

Pool hopping is only aloud between sister resorts --

meaning All star Sports can use All star music or all star movies pools and vice/versa.

Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter can use each others pools.

OR

You must be a DVC member staying on points. Pool hopping does not include SAB or the quiet pools at the YC/BC/BCV's or the pools at AKL. Black out dates apply such as Easter,4th of July, etc. and if the pool is at capacity you can still be asked to leave as to be able to accommodate the guests actually staying at the resort.

OR

If a pool is being referbished - they will usually let you use another resorts pool -- they will tell you which resort's pool you can use in this case. i.e. OKW will have their main pool shut down beginning in Sept.04' -- during this time they will be shuttling guests via boat to SSR to be able to use their main pool.

Once upon a time they did allow pool hopping as long as you were a guest at any WDW resort, but no more. And rightfully so. It isn't really fair for someone to pay over $200 per night to stay at a deluxe resort to have the extra ammenities of using a more elaborately themed pool (like the volcano pool at the Poly for instance) and have other's paying only $85 per night to stay at a value or moderate resort and then get to use the volcano pool and if it's busy the person paying over $200 a night is elbow to elbow in the pool:rolleyes: Although they allow DVC members to pool hop - if it gets too crowded they are asked to leave.

Anyway - there ya have it but that's not to say that if you ask nicely a CM working that day won't grant it - but is it really fair? :confused3

gee maybe they should check to see how much you paid for the room and give priority to those paying rack rates.....

ask the desk

the rest why worry what someone else is doing

It *matters* when you get back from the parks at 2pm and want to hang out at the pool and swim for a couple of hours before dinner when you can find no empty chairs and cannot move in the pool because it is so crowded.

If all the resort pools were mega sized, then it wouldn't matter. However, the pools are not. They are designed for the capasity of each resort.

a sense of self-importance?

The rest should care about what someone else, who is not a paying guest at that resort, is doing because the pools are crowded enough for the paying guests as it is. Although not enforced enough by Disney, it should be. Just MHO.;)
