Pool Hopping

Hi-
If my family and I decide to rent points at OKW, can we "pool hop" to other DVC pools? We would like to take each resort for a test drive before we consider buying points. Also, if we bought points at two different resorts, how does the 7 month and 11 month windows work? Will I only receive priority for the number of points (and therefore, nights) I own at that particular resort? : bounce:

WHile "officially" pool hopping is for DVC members only, your room card (on rented points) will say DVC members, and you will probably be allowed to pool hop.

You must first call the resort to which you wish to hop to make sure hoppoing is available at that time (it is suspended if the pools become crowded). Also, hopping is NOT allowed to Beach Club/BCVs pools, nor is it allowed to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

And yes, your 11/7 window only applies to the points you own at that particular resort.

As ChuckS just posted, yes, technically you'll be able to pool hop since your card will say "dvc member" - and certain rules and restrictions apply. Just follow them and you'll be fine.

As for the ? about the 7 and 11 mos. window goes --

if you own at 2 different resorts you will only be able to use the particular resorts points you are trying to book at when you are booking 11mos out until you hit 7mos and can use the points from the other resort. i.e. - if you own at BCV's and OKW for and example and are booking BCV's at the 11mos. window, if you need say 200pts (just a random example) to book that stay and only own 150pts at BCV's - you would only be able to book up to 150pts until you are 7mos out and can use 50pts from your OKW contract (and vs. versa if you were trying to book OKW at 11mos.)

This can be managed by banking and borrowing to have enough pts to book your entire stays at 11mos but be aware that this is how it will work - it can be a great advantage to have the 11mos window at both resorts if you plan properly.
