We just became DVC members in April, so I have some questions. I know as a DVC member you can pool hop at some resorts and others you can't. Can anyone tell me which ones we can go to? We're staying at SSR. Also we're going with my in-laws who are DVC and my parents who aren't. Can all of us go or just DVC members?

Your guests can pool hop with you. Animal Kingdom Lodge & Kidani, and Storm-along Bay at Yacht/Beach club are closed to pool hopping. I'm not sure about the Contemporary pool. All the other pools are open to pool hopping, but with date restrictoions during major holidays, like the 4th of July weekend.

Check the latest edition of Disney Files to read what it says about pool hopping. The other catch to pool hopping is you must be staying on a reservation through MS at a DVC resort.

It says that the BLT pool is also off limits, as are all the pools at YC/BC/BCV (not just Stormalong Bay).

The dates are more restricted than just the 4th of July, so please make sure to check the DVC site. Anyone on your reservation may poolhop with you, but only DVC members and their guests may pool hop. (Keep in mind you must be a DVC member with a room in order to have access to the pools).

The actual rule does stipulate that you are to call the resort front desk that you are planning to hop to and make sure that they have room at the pool, before you arrive. This is to prevent over crowding at the pool, which could be an annoyance for paying hotel guests.

But, by the time you get to the pool, the lifeguard (who has ultimate authority at the pool) could ask you to leave if the pool has gotten too busy.

According to this the Contemporary is now on the list of resorts where you can not pool hopp to. Of course the one exception will be for Bay Lake Tower guests, since they will also be allowed access to the Contemporary pool.

Resort Guests may only use the pool(s) located at the resort in which the Guest is staying. Pool hopping to other resorts is not allowed.

Exceptions:

* Disney Vacation Club Members staying at a DVC Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and WDW Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool(s) at the Resort where they are staying) if those pools are not at capacity. If the pool they are visiting reaches capacity, they may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that Resort hotel. They must present their current "Key to the World" card with the "Disney Vacation Club Member" designation on it to use other Resort hotel pools.
o Pool hopping is NOT available at any time at Stormalong Bay and the leisure pools at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the pools at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Contemporary Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.
o Pool hopping is restricted at all pools during certain periods of high occupancy. Members should contact DVC Member Services if they would like more information.
* Guests staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort may utilize the pools in both Riverside and French Quarter.
* Guests staying at Disney's All-Star Resorts may utilize the all the pools at Sports, Music, and Movies.

I also read that the pool at Bay Lake Tower is restricted to anyone wanting to pool hopp there and that also includes anyone staying at the Contemporary, so it won't share like the other DVC Resorts that are connected with the other Deluxe Resorts.

While that is definitely true, I'm just relaying the info about the pool hopping rules, which do state to call the front desk before heading to a different pool.
