I'm sure I read somewhere that you can do this, but can't find the thread.

We are staying at OKW and love looking round the other resorts. Will we be able to use their pools?
Also do you have to show your room key to use the pool?

Pool hopping is a total no-no unless you are swimming at a sister resort (POR/POFQ etc.) or are DVC members staying on points. Even then DVC members are subject to further restrictions.

BE CAREFUL - I am new to the forums and got my flipping head ripped off for asking this question!!!

BUT, as I have learned, I will not be caught dead at a pool of a resort in which I am not staying

That's not very friendly of them for ripping your head off is it now. I thought people on these boards were a friendly bunch!

I'll move my question over to the UK boards, and I will also ask when I get to resort. I bet Disney don't mind, they just won't encourage it.

Disney "does" mind, otherwise they wouldn't ask life guards to check resort IDs...

ID checking has been known to take to place on a regular basis at the Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht and Beach Club, and Wilderness Lodge. I've read reports where people have seen resort IDs checked at nearly every deluxe resort.

I would be extremely embarrased to be asked to leave the pool for 'breaking the rules' in a public way for infront of others and my children.

Your welcome to tour the grounds but do not take the "space" of a family who has paid to stay at that resort. Would you like to come back from a morning at the parks to your OKW pool packed with non-resort guests using chairs/tables and over crowding the pool?

Pool Hopping is only allowed at the All Star Resorts and Port Orleans Riverside/French Quater. If you are a DVC member, you have access to every pool with exception to Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay. A DVC resort ID must be presented when asked by a lifeguard.

I'm sorry, but why would you ask a question if you are only going to reject the answer you get? The pools have the rules stated on a sign. They are for resort guests only. Except as PP said DVC guests, who can use any pool except AKL or SAB.

No, no one should get their head ripped off for asking this. Us 'old hands' know this stuff, but there's no reason that a Disney newbie would know.

Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to do this. There just simply isn't enough room at any resort's pool to allow admittance to the general public, and still leave room for the folks who've paid for the use of the pool.

Disney's gotten stricter about preventing pool hopping, and a lot of the deluxe resorts are doing random ID checks. There was a thread going just the other day where a number of us reported that they've seen ID's checked and folks asked to leave. I've seen security standing by while the 'unauthorized' guests packed their things and left the WL pool. Pretty embarrassing for that family.

I think that would be your best bet.:thumbsup2 I know there have been times when crowds are minimal and the staff will give you permission to use them.

However, as others have pointed out, it is officially against the rules, they may or may not ask you to prove you are staying there.

I also got my head ripped off AND handed to me for asking this question 2 days ago. I had my character challenged amongst some other things. Short version, I guess you are not suppose to pool hop!!! I had originally asked about swimming at POLY after the Spirit of Aloha Show, but a guest at POR. Still looking for someone to hand me back my head!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
