Pool Hopping- We will be staying at SSR for our first DVC trip this June, then in Nov. we will be staying at OKW. What is up with Pool Hopping? Is it worth it?
We pool hopped from the BW to SSR and it was fun. It was easy to do since my children are older. Not sure it would be worth it if they were younger.
We only hopped over to SSR because we wanted to check out our home resort. It was a nice break from the parks and not quite as busy as the BW.
Not worth it to us, we swim at the resort where we are staying. We have too much else we want to do then travel from pool to pool. I am sure some enjoy it.
ITA! Never pool hopped... I honestly dont see the point. If a pool at a particular resort is so important then we would probably stay there.
Oh piddle who am I kidding... I'm just too lazy for that.. cant be bothered to put down my drink to go somewhere else to get another one
You say you are going in June, but didn't give a date.
I can guarantee that you won't be able to pool hop on the last weekend in June due to the July 4th holiday.
Back in the old days, when my son was much younger and members could pool hop to SAB, we did that. SAB was the reason we then bought points at BCV. We've also poolhopped to VWL in the past, but we pretty much swim where we stay now. Or go to the water park.
We are going to be at BWV mid-Sept and I plan on pool hopping over to SSR. I have two little ones (1 & 2 yrs) and I have heard that they have a good pool for them with a zero entry and Donald Splash fountain. We also just bought points there and want to check out our new home. I figured we will go spend time in the pool there and then head to DTD (or do DTD then the pool...depending on how our days go)
A lot of times we will spend a whole day pool hopping, not with little kids though. Back in the day we used to hop over to Stormalong Bay, but now that that's not allowed we just try other pools. Our favorites are Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs and Wilderness Lodge.
We will have 3 little ones (our DGC) and a van for our August trip. If pool hopping is allowed, we think we will try, BWV using Valet Parking for the cute spray animal section, and maybe SSR for the Donald Duck area.
We really don't know how many of the 5 days we will be going to parks because the children are 1,2 and 3 in ages, need naps and really have hardly ever not slept in their own house. None of us adults, and there will be 7 of us, know what to expect, but we can't wait to see.
DDiL says we will either have such a great time that we'll do it every year, or it will be a terrible vacation, with cranky kids all day, and she'll put it out of her mind. If the second is the case, she figures she'll give WDW a try in '07.

I never pool hopped nor will I ever. I personally believe it should not be allowed but way back when they were having trouble selling DVC when it was just OKW they thought of this as some kind of attraction. If you like crashing into a pool at a resort you are not staying at and think nothing of it then give it a try.
We have been to WDW dozens of times with dcs ranging from 5 months to teens. Bobbi, with ones so little this is what I would do.....Hit the parks EARLY and do all the shows and rides that would appeal to them. Either do lunch in the parks and then go back to the room, or go back to the room for lunch. Then let everyone cool off and nap. Head to a pool (I think it would be fun to try different ones!) later in the afternoon when the sun is not so strong. Have dinner in the room or out and then put the kids to bed early and relax . People always say to cool off in the pool after lunch but the sun is still sooooo strong then for little ones. Even with sun block you are going to have to be careful with them! We now have a pool at home for the first time and even with my older kiddos I prefer for them to swim later in the day, then we have supper by the pool, they swim a little more, and then come in and get ready for bed (usually exhausted by then!) Sunblock is not easy with little ones, often mine would get it in their eyes and fuss!!! Hats do help though for little faces. Just go at their speed and I think the trip will be awesome!!! Maybe a few nice, cool character meals, mine STILL love those .
We've never pool hopped, but knowing that you can is kind of nice. This year we were planning a all OKW stay and the kids (a bit older) said that they really liked the pools at the moderates--they asked if we would be staying on a Friday/Saturday at a moderate to save points--oh they train up so quickly They asked if we could fit a few of their favorite moderate restaurants (boatwrights and pepper market) into the plan and if they could stay and swim. In this cse I guess it would work so I'm going to let them try it.
