We're planning on pool hopping one evening over to the pool at the Poly and I'm wondering if we can bring our refillable mugs with us (if we do decide to do the DP this trip). I'm not trying to skirt any policies, just not sure how they would apply in this case.

Your mugs are only good at your own resort - I believe it is printed on the side of them now - for your own resort, for the length of that stay.

Good to know! The ones I have at home have been through the dishwasher so many times I can't read the fine print anymore. ;)

I may be completely wrong, but I thought pool hopping only applied to DVC resort pools, so Poly isn't a pool you can legally hop to.

Exactly. That's what I thought too, only DVC resorts, so no Poly pool hopping. I might be wrong though. Does anybody know for sure?

You can hop to the Poly. Off limits are AKL, AKV, BLT, YC, BC all the other Disney pools are allowed as long as it is not during a black out period.

Yup..basically the pools at the newest resorts, and Stormalong Bay are excluded, but it is also subject to crowd levels. Good idea to call ahead.

The language on the mugs has always been rather unclear and contradictory about only being usable at the resort - the fountains and the mugs often disagreed...did they clarify on the latest mugs?

Edit: I found our old mugs, and they say "in the resort it was purchased", so it may be the drink stations that had the other verbage that implied it was good anywhere during your stay...

I wanted to come back and edit my post yesterday, but stupid slow DIS boards had me so frustrated, I gave up!

OP - make sure your dates are not in a blackout period for pool hopping. Probably not because it looks like you are two weeks before Easter (I noticed your ticker because it was close to mine for an Easter trip), but you might want to verify before making those plans.

And yes, you can pool hop to non-DVC resorts.

I think the mugs can be length of stay if you resort hop. We are doing 3 nights at BLT and 4 at AKV, and I don't think we will need 2 mugs.

That would probably be up to resort management because it clearly states on the mug it is only good at the resort you bought it at during the length of stay at that resort.

According to the official mug thread on the resorts forum, CMs do not have a problem if you use your mug for the duration of the trip even if you switch resorts. We buy them for our trip and use them for our length of stay. We pool hopped one afternoon to BWV from BCV and used them. We will buy new ones on our next trip.

Unfortunately, the DIS does not set official Disney policy and neither do individual cast members. The rules regarding reusable mugs is written on the side of the mug. However, a resort manager may provide you other information.
