Is pool hopping restricted to DVC resorts? I do know there is no hopping to the pools of BLT, BC/YC, and AKL. Thanks!

If you are a DVC member staying on points you are able to hop to any resort pool (except for the ones you pointed out) as long as they are not over capacity. If they get full then they have the right to ask you to leave.

You also can't pool hop to the Swan and Dolphin since they are not Disney operated hotels.

Coronado Springs has a pretty nice pool.

coronado springs has the best slide. while it is a long walk to the pepper market "food court", they do sell a burgers, hot dogs and buffalo chicken sandwiches at the pool bar. AND there is a refill station for the mugs!!

(POR does NOT have a refill station for mugs near the pool bar)

And as long as you are not going during the black out dates and are staying on DVC points.

One note on the CSR refill station. It is not self serve. You must wait in line and ask for a refill. We were just there last week pool hopping and I waited in line for 20 minutes for a refill. They had one person working the bar (we were there from 11:30-1:30 and only 2 people working the counter service food/drink section. My SIL waited 30 minutes from the time she got in line until she got their food. Most of it was waiting in line. DH waited in line to buy a refillable mug and it took over 15 minutes to get the stupid mug. We left saying we would never go back unless we brought our own drinks and food.

We are dvc members and will be staying at ssr in october using our points. Are we allowed to go to the pool at the gf and the poly. What are these pools like.

Here's the rules from the MS website:

Pool Hopping Information
When staying on your Membership at Disney's Vero Beach Resort or any DVC Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas. There are no exceptions to this policy. As a reminder, during times of high occupancy, please be mindful of the limited number of pool chairs available, and refrain from leaving towels or personal items on unoccupied pool chairs.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members and any Guests staying with them may not pool hop during the following dates*:

February 20-26 (Sun – Sat)
April 16 – April 30 (Sat – Sat)
May 27 – 30 (Fri – Mon)
June 26 – July 5 (Sun – Tue)
September 2 – 5 (Fri – Mon)
November 21 – 27 (Mon – Sun)
Dec 11, 2011 – Jan 1, 2012 (Sun – Sun)

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity

I thought it was interesting that guests staying at Vero Beach could pool hop, but that would be a bit of drive. I guess if you have time to kill before catching the plane in Orlando, you could pool hop the day you check out of VB.

What I think would be important to know is which resort has showers in the pool locker rooms or bathrooms, so if you do pool hop you have some where to clean up afterwards.

Would you like to share the information about your favorite pool? Including those that are not available for pool hopping. Because on check in or out days it might make the day more pleasant in going to the pool after coming or leaving for the airport.

BLT - Does not have showers in the pool lockers rooms. Lockers are outside of the bathrooms. However, there are showers in the spa and fitness center over at CR.

Thanks! We are staying at BLT with DVC points in mid July. We probably won't pool hop since it will be easier to use the pool there but I am tempted to check out the pool at the Polynesian. I have visited the resort but never stayed nor used the pool there. My 13DS loves pool slides. Is it worth it to go to the Polynesian for the slide?

This is great to know! I thought you could only hop to DVC pools...I would love to check out the Polynesian!

The Polynesian pool is very nice but also not very large and often very crowded, especially in the summer. If you went in the a.m. you'd get a chair/table easily and have a couple hours of fairly uncrowded pool time. But as soon as guests start coming back from the parks for a break it gets mobbed. They do make a tasty pina colava (pina colada with strawberry daiquiri mixed in) at the pool bar though :)

The poly is a great pool. Kids love the slide there. GF is kind of boring. They do have a slide. The pool is very pretty if I remember correctly.

We have never used a locker room in all the years we have been pool hopping and it is probably around 12 years. We just dry off, throw the towels in the towels bins, throw our shirts on, pack our gear and leave. We never hop while doing a park day.

You can not pool hop at SAB, BLT or AKL/Kidani. Or the Swan and Dolphin. The best pools to hop to are (in my family's opinion) - CSR, Poly, WL, SSR, OKW, and POR. It's been awhile since we have been to the CBR. It's off the beaten path for bus rides for us. BW is OK and so is the CR.

How likely is it to be asked to leave a pool do to capacity? Is it more likely seasonal, or time of day, or day of the week you P/H?

last summer we had 4 ngihts at CSR and never had a line that long!I think the longest I had to wait was 5 minutes and yes when we got food a maybe the time it was for them to cook it but we went back to our talbe and just keep a eye out for them to wave at us..... You had that long wait b/c of the time you went Spring break:) B

We are truly the pool hopping king and queens. I don't know of anyone who pool hops more than us (there may be, but never heard of them). We have never been asked to leave. We were at the Poly last week and it was fairly busy. We were hopping along the monorail. We were asked if we were staying at the Poly and I said we were DVC and hopping. CM gave us wristbands for all 9 of us. We have even gone swimming at SAB after dark and never been asked to leave. In fact, last year, we pool hopped during Easter Week. Not once we were asked about where we were staying or we were asked to leave. We mostly pool hop during the day when it should be at the busiest time.

Last year we pool hopped to CSR on Easter and we didn't have a problem. For the past 6 years we have gone the first week of April and usually make it to CSR. Never had a problem until this year and it wasn't premier season when other years is has. So I don't by the spring break thing. I don't think it had anything to do with time of year as much as it had to do with under staffing, incompetence and laziness. The 2 ladies working the counter were giving people their food that were in line AFTER my DH. All he needed was for one of them to grab a new mug and fill it with diet Coke. After waiting 15 minutes and then having to ask them for it seemed silly. it should have been done immediately before taking the next person's order, but neither of them wanted to move much.

In fact, one of the waiters heard us talking that it was taking so long and he told us we should have asked him and it would not have taken so long. But we never saw him around the pool and of course it would have taken him 30 seconds to take care of us right there too, but he didn't. Not that it was his job, but if he had gotten it for us, we might have asked him to get the rest of our food and adult drinks too. But he didn't so he lost out.
