'Pool hopping privilege' for DVCers

Coronado Springs has a great pool which could be worth hopping to for a change of scenery. But as others have mentioned, if you don't have a car it's not worth the hassle.

Does it strike anyone else strange that you can hop at VGF? I am guessing next to know one takes advantage of it so it goes on unnoticed.

Our DGC went on their first slides at PORS, that’s a neat pool. We were at VWL, we had a car, had to make two trips over. It was when Boatwrights had breakfasts, a long time ago, but so much fun.

And BWV.

Years ago we pool hopped (back when it was allowed) to the Poly on a MK day for a break. It was a nice mid day break - but it did involve hauling swimsuits - first dry, then wet - around. We've also hopped to BWV from BCV because my kids preferred the BWV pool (its home - no one was impressed with SAB) - which was less of a bother since it was a quick walk over.

I can see the benefits of hopping for a non-parks trip with kids too young to really enjoy the waterparks, but old enough to enjoy some pool slide variety. But in general, it isn't something I care deeply about one way or the other.

I've suspected for years that it will be dropped as a benefit - but its just gotten more and more restricted as resort and/or pool improvements have been made.

Many years ago, we were staying at BLT and pool hopped on the monorail - this was back when the Poly wasn't yet DVC and it wasn't restricted. We swam in the volcano pool and enjoyed lunch at Captain Cooks. We also hit the main pool at the Grand Floridian, and finished up at the CR before heading back to BLT. It was a fun day. Can't think of many other scenarios where pool hopping would be this convenient.

Can you IMAGINE 'hopping' from BRV@WL to Saratoga for example? I believe that is quite a long ride... If you could hop from BRV to the CR pool however, then THAT would be a much shorter trip.

I can totally imagine that. Absolutely.

We always have a car so nothing is inconvenient.

We had a terrific day (would’ve been better if it weren’t Love bug season) at CSR.

We adore the clown pool (despite me being phobic) so we would hope there. My extended family loves the main OKW pool so if we were all staying together on our points somewhere else we would head over there if we felt like it. And I like a basic pool, so I can imagine hopping to pop etc.

I’m happy with the pool hopping options.

I personally have never pool hopped. I understand the desire for a change of scene occasionally, but from a practical standpoint, I don't think it is a huge perk, especially now with the restrictions. After all, all water is wet.

I am not really interested in pool hopping but I see it could be fun with older kids.

I do have a question though. How do you get into locked gated pools these days?

Good question, I'm curious what the official procedure is. In practice people come in and out of the gates constantly so I've just followed someone in.

Usually the gated pools are easily opened by adults, but almost impossible for small children to open. This helps to make children be accompanied by adults. At least this is how it works at the Grand Floridian. There is no lock or magic band swipe.

We stay out of all the themed pools, especially during the day when they have all the kids activities going on. Too much noise and too loud for us. I hate it when we are at the Millers Road pool at OKW and all the racket from the main pool at OKW is going on. Still too noisy at Millers Road even with the distance.

With the deal on the Premium AP, I’m happy going to a water park with a wave pool, rather than pool hop!:)
