Pool hopping.... but only for the pool bar?

I know pool hopping is obviously not allowed at WDW, but what are the guidelines in terms of wanting to visit another resorts pool bar? Are guests from other resorts to do so, as long as they stay at the bar and don't go in the water? I remember reading something about CM lifeguards having the right to ask anyone swimming in the pool to prove they were a resort guest (such as with pools requiring wristbands), but what if you're not swimming?

I would think that you may have a problem at YC/BC because the pool area is fenced in and there are CM's checking ID's. You wouldn't be able to get to the bar.

SAB is tightly regulated, good thing since it can be difficult to find a pool chair there.

I've never considered any of the pool bars (including the deluxe/DVC ones) to be a 'go-to' destination. Disney encourages guest to tour the various resorts so, if the spirit;)moves you, enjoy.

Thanks for correcting me. It's been a long time since I've been to BC and didn't think about if the pool bar is inside the gated area.

You can actually get to the bar at SAB its outside the gate. Its at Hurricane Hanna's not sure if its still having construction. If so there is a bar in YC & BC, their both good.

Agreed. We usually stay at Boardwalk and have frequently gotten drinks at Hanna's with no problem. (although it is closed eight now)

The timing of this can be difficult, but if you can go to the Poly sometime when the pool bar is open until close to MK closing time, you can get drinks there, grab a chair at the beach, and watch Wishes. Normally the Poly pool bar is long closed by the time Wishes starts, but you might be able to buy a drink right at the bar closing, and then nurse the drink until showtime. We've done this while staying at the Poly, which made it easier because we could swim, etc. Awesome way to spend an evening with friends.

We did that last time. We were staying at BCV so we could get into that one no problem. One of our favorites was AKL though.

Is it possible to sit on a lounger and sunbathe? Or does that cross the line into actual pool hopping, even without swimming? I'm mainly thinking about Poly or AKL

IMHO, that would be pool hopping as it would be more difficult for people staying there to get a chair at the pool. A chair at the bar is one thing but a chair at the pool is another thing. YMMV.

We usually go to WDW during the slow times. We have never had a problem with pool hopping or pool bar hopping. We have never even been asked where we are staying or ask to show a room key. We were just there in Dec and had no problem.
