Anyone have one?
We’re considering getting one. We live in western NY, so our swimming season is rather short. I like the pool to be at least 80 before I go in. Our children are 19 and 21, but they are home for the summer. I wanted to look into solar heaters but my husband wants a gas heater. We’ve had a solar cover for years and we don’t like it.
We’re probably going to be spending a lot more time at home this summer so it might be worth it. My husband is very handy and can install it himself. Just wondering if anyone has experience with it?

We were just talking about a heater today for our pool. Have not had one in the 34 years we have had the pool so not really sure we need one now. We are downstate NY and get a good 3 months out of the pool in the summer. We just opened it 3 days ago but have not gone in yet.

We do. But it’s a heat pump. Live in Montreal, so I feel you. The heater has been on, and I nearly went in today, it was so beautiful. 😍. We swim from May through September on a good year with the heater. I like it warm also, a little warmer than you, lol. The water is now about 77, tomorrow should be good to go. I wouldn’t make it without it!

We did solar on LI, NY, years back. While it was average to good, ( roof mounted) the season was Still too short, the trees by us ( Huge Oaks) impacted us, the weather was clearly an issue and Overall we’d have been better with gas ( which was not an option at the time)
Fast forward to now... sw fla, ours is heated, salt water year round use and it’s Perfection!
best of luck... nothing like ur own pool to enjoy!

Ahh, I am SO jealous! Our dream is to retire in Florida one day!

I have a 135,00 btu unit, bought last year from In the Swim, made the mistake of ordering a NG unit and have no access to NG, so ordered a propane conversion kit for it, it works fine, just be advised it uses a lot of gas to use. ETA: It's a Hayward H135ID.

LOL. Used to have a spa and kept it at 80. Doctor's orders with high blood pressure, nothing hotter. Neighbors were in their's New Year's day, water was 58 !

I live in Northern Vermont, we have a propane heater for our above ground pool. Best decision I made when buying the pool.
