On a typical day at sea is it difficult to find chairs near the pool. Do you have to get there early to reserve? We are going 11/02/02!:)

According to some earlier posts, you CANNOT reserve chairs. If I find a towel on a chair, I usually just sit on it.

On our last cruise there was one really rude family that reserved their seats by the pool by distributing towels and other articles across them. We started watching and saw that out of the 8 or 9 seats reserved there were usually only two being used. The father figure of this family usually did the reserving and then sat in his lounge chair all day playing a hand held poker game.
We were disappointed that the CMs never made a move to stop this.
Another problems was the moving of pool chairs to other locations.
Most people on the Disney Cruises have been wonderful but there are still some Disney Jerks out there.

I have a question.....I know my 14 year old godson Matt will want to sit on deck and go swimming, I can get him in and out of the pool (he can't walk much) but he will have to have a chair to sit in besides his wheelchair which is not very comfortable....if I put backpacks on a chair and took him in the pool no one would take that chair before he got out would they?? I don't mind not having a chair but I really would need him to be able to sit....

Yes, that will be fine! It's okay to put something on to 'save' your chair while you are in the pool -- but, some people get up early at 7am or so, and proceed to pick out and reserve their chairs for the day -- only to spend a short time in the afternoon on the chairs. If you are unable to find a chair -- as a CM to help you, explaining the need for your child. Due to the fact that he is handicapped and will have a difficult time in the goofy pool with so many people, I would also ask if you could take him into the adult pool for a short time.
:)

ruvidu,
Did you say something to a crew member and ask them to intervene? On the rare instances when kids intrude on the adult areas, I have found the CMs to be very helpful in enforcing the rules. I am never afraid to speak up, so in that situation I would ask a CM to point out the rules to the offending family (or just plunk down in one of "their" chairs and point to the line in the Navigator about NOT reserving if they tried to protest).

This was our third cruise and I can not remember seeing anyone other than the bartenders and servers. On the other cruises there was always someone walking around and making sure all was well.

Also, I noticed that all the lounge chairs on the decks have a notice saying that you can not reserve chairs. So if someone complains that you took "their" chair you can point to the sign...

I did not see any problems with people saving chairs and not using them.... Most chairs had shoes, towels and bags and you knew that people were actually using them. I did not see too many chairs that had just towels... We had no problems finding a spot to sit on deck 10 but our kids are older so I did not feel like I had to sit poolside where it was not impossible to find a seat, but you had to wait a bit. The area around the pools is not all the big. (This was Freeport day, I expect that the cruises with a day at sea would be very crowded )
