Hi all, we're typically the type to be in the parks all day every day of our Disney trips. However, we're planning to do a day or two around the pool when we go this summer (early/mid August). We're still deciding where we want to stay and I'm wondering if any resorts are especially known for either being really tough to find pool chair availability or really great to find pool chairs for summer visits?

If it's not early morning or late afternoon, it's nearly impossible to get chairs together (more than a single) at Storm-A-Long Bay. When we were there in August, we couldn't even find one chair! Most feature pools get busy, especially in August because it's so hot and people take breaks from the parks and return to their resorts to swim.

I can't speak to all the resorts but last August we stayed at WL and there never seemed to be chairs at the main feature pool. The last couple of years we've also stayed at OKW and have never had a problem with finding chairs at the feature pool or quiet pools. I know people complain of SAB st YC/BC but we've never had issues there so YMMV.

ETA: We always go in August (usually late August/early September

Storm Along Bay at YC / BC or the Lava pool at the Polynesian tend to be very busy during the peak times of 11-4 PM most days during the summer.

Anyone know specifically how AKL or POFQ are for pool space? Those are a couple resorts that are on our list for possible stays this summer. I know POFQ is a smaller resort but that might mean its tougher to get chairs for a pool day?

At POFQ you are allowed to use the pools at Riverside, the quiet pools there are great! POFQ is not a huge resort, it's my favorite moderate, the pool was busy but not crazy. It's been awhile since I stayed there, but I love pool days and I don't remember it being nearly as crazy as some of the other pools (Poly and SAB).

We frequently go in August and have been to POFQ many times. We’ve never had an issue getting a couple of chairs, no matter what time of day we've tried.

Stormalong Bay was a once and done for us in August. Packed pool and no chairs.

Same! I'll never stay at the BC again. Even the quiet pool was packed. I 100% prefer POFQ over the BC.

Just got back from Destino Towers Coronado Springs and we always had plenty of chair spaces at The Dig pool site. I previous had extreme difficulties finding chairs at grand Floridian. Great resort btw

I think experiences vary greatly. Labor day weekend (end of August) we had no issues getting a chair at Stormalong Bay there were plenty available.

At AKV in April no chairs to be had.

Another upside to Coronado is the variety of dining options.

Dark horse- Swolphin. They all share pools and the pool at Dolphin is huge with lots of chairs.

I’ve never been to WDW in the summer, but I would assume it’s more difficult to get chairs then, as opposed to when we go in January/February.

Last time we were at AKL in late January to early February. This did not align with a federal holiday, school break, or as far as I could tell, any other big draw. Both the main hotel pool and the pool at Kidani were pretty full of people in chairs, or at least the chairs that are “taken” by a towel all day. Few minutes of looking and we were always successful getting at least a pair somewhere.

This most recent time, we went around Presidents’ Day. Few days before the holiday we were at Saratoga Springs’ paddock pool. Were only able to get the farthest back (sub-optimal) bistro table to the side of the paddock grill, basically 4’ from the door the employees go in and out of.

The rest of the trip, we were at Wilderness lodge, where the main pool was madness and chairs were “all taken” (again, many by just towels for hours on end), such that over the course of 4 or so attempts, we only got a pair of chairs once, not even by the pool, but by the kiddie splash area. The pool at boulder ridge was always easy to find a table and/or lounge chairs.

Kidani or Jambo? I’m dreading Easter week. I still think GF is the worst.

Yes, Grande Floridian has by far been the toughest for us. We go a lot and have stayed at lots of resorts but GF was really rough for chairs every single time. CSR was also a lil tough if we didn't rope drop the pool.

Any suggestions for Beach Club at the end of June? I had BLT booked for a trip with our friends’ family but they wanted to do Beach Club Villas specifically for the pool. I don’t enjoy spending more than an hour or two at a pool, so I’m hoping it’s not miserable to find a place to sit while the kids swim.

How close to the end of June / July 4th week? There will be a spike in guests at SAB due to the heat, and the holiday travel build up of families may make the SAB a busy place.

However the Summer season is no longer the major crush of crowds it used to be so all is not lost. What are the ages of kids in the mixed group?
