Was looking around on youtube and saw this recent video of the construction going on around the pool thats over by the cabins. ( Not sure what the official name is)

Does anyone know what exactly is planned ? The video is a bit loud and doesnt show much till you get to around 4 mins and 30 secs into it .

Is that the area the cabins washers and dryers are in also ?

Yes, that's the pool. It is being refurbished an according to reports being made shallower. It should be opened back up soon.

That's a shame that they are making it shallower. It was nice to have a place at FW to swim some laps. I saw the construction over the weekend, but didn't bother to try and see what had been done yet as they had it all blocked off.

:confused:I was at the pool in April and all I was told that it was maintenance and upgrading.
In my opinion that if they were to make it shallower it would take away from the pool (literally) and force people to go to an allready overcrowded pool (Meadows).
I just viewed the video and noticed that the water was still in the pool while all the demolition is going on around it. Im not a construction person, but it would make sense to me that on any major project you would start in the center and move outward so as not to damage any of the finished project. In other words why didnt they do the pool work before the patio.
So what Im actually asking is where did the info come about shallowing the pool, I know Disney is very secretive so how reliable is it...nothing personal...Im just hoping not very

I have seen photos of a guy standing in the old deep end. I don't own the photos and they are on another site so I can't post them here

Thank you all. I bet a lot of moms will feel better about their kids in a more shallow pool. I know I will , even though I prefer deeper ones myself. I hope they are not making it shorter lenth wise though.

How deep was it anyway I wonder ? Sounds to me like it might be being upgraded a bit also.

I think it was 8 feet. But what sucks is every other resort pool at Disney has a 8 ft deep end.

1) Not for long.
2) As they are rehabbed they build a zero-entry area, plus shallow.
. . . cheaper to use less water
. . . cheaper to use less chemicals
. . . cheaper to use less heat in the winter

The Polynesian quiet pool is an example of this: they didn't make it zero-entry, but they took away the "deep end" and made it much shallower. Sorry to hear the quiet pool at FW may be following the same fate. :sad2:

I have never been so annoyed by anything Disney has done. I always looked forward to swimming laps at the quiet Wilderness pool.

Yesterday we biked over to the pool unaware it was in the process of being ruined. It has already been filled in with concrete so that the greatest depth is a whole 3 feet. Yahoo whoop de do.

So now there are no swimming pools at the Fort, only wading pools. I didn't mind when they did it to the Meadows pool, since that meant fewer kids at the Wilderness pool.

So apparently every pool in WDW is slated to be ruined similarly. If they are honest they will rename all the former swimming pools to wading pools. Meadows wading pool and now Wilderness wading pool. Ten years ago we had River Country, Bay Lake, and two actual swimming pools available for actual swimming. There is now no place where a person can enjoy swimming exercise. I am so disgusted.

I still don't understand why they would do this to all of their pools. Is it a liability issue to have deeper pools now? That's too bad.

I couldn't agree more, this April when we were overrun at the Wildreness pool we sent the kids to the Meadows. They immediately came back saying you couldn't even move around. We then all went down to the beach and went over to areas where it was not posted and no boat traffic. We were not planning on swimming only wading and playing at the edge. However as soon as you got to your knees Lake Patrol would come over and tell you to get out.

What the Hell is going on, it makes no sense to me.

Is Disney try to save money, a liability issue both ideas which were earlier expressed, trying to force people over to thier allready over crowded water parks to make more money?
All I know that they have done in the last ten years is make it less water friendly.

There is definitely not enough pools to accommodate the guests. I never could figure out why they didn't leave the chlorinated areas River Country open to Fort guests. A 3rd pool sure would be nice.

3 ft is the deepest ? So its basically a kiddie pool . I was looking foward to being near the pool. Now, not so much.

Are you sure thats the deepest and not the entry point ?

...and you can buy tickets to the water parks and spend more money:lmao:

Is there another pool available, any idea when it will be back up

Yes, there are 2 pools. A large themed one and smaller quiet pool, the quiet pool is being redone. It should be open any time now if it isn't already.
