Pool bar open at SS in the Grandstand??

Hi everyone!

We are leaving on Saturday for a quick little holiday getaway...the weather looks nice and we were planning on spending some time at the pool...has anyone been to the grandstand area with the pool bar? Do they serve food and if so what did they have????? Thanks!!

In September they had sandwiches and salads at the pool bar when it was open. We didn't have any food but the drinks were good.

We were in the Grandstand with our balcony overlooking the pool area. We were there November 6-14th. The pool bar was only open over the weekend.

It is a quick walk over to the Springs, though. That bar appeared open the entire time, but I don't know if it had any food.

There were some nice frosty and colorful drinks coming from it, too!

We stayed at the Grandstand over T-giving...the pool bar was open each day we were there (7 days)...but the hours were fairly short...I never did notice what time the bar opened...but the drink refill station appeared to have the same hours (it was open when the bar was open, and not when the bar was closed), so I noticed it when it wasn't open in the morning (went to get hot chocolate for DS and had to go to Artist's Palette)...and it was closed after we got back after dinner each night.

I also looked at the "menu" a couple of times, and saw nothing except drinks...if they sold food, it wasn't posted on the menu...I never saw anyone eating by the pool--but I also didn't see anyone drinking there, either...

We stayed at the Grandstand area in October and used that pool. We also had purchased mugs. The drink station did not open until like 1:00pm, I think. I mentioned it to 2 manager types but nothing changed. It was an inconvience in the morning when you wanted to use your mug.

That is pretty late in the day for that to open. I was surprised that the main bar at HRS closed at something like 6pm - I am more likely to want a beverage after 7 than in the middle of the afternoon, but I think I'm probably just weird that way.

Sorry to hijack a little, but given that it's in the same area as the GS pool, I was wondering if anyone knows when they turn that splash area on. We walked over one day to see it/use it but there was no water going. Maybe I just didn't know how to work it.

Interesting to see the weird pool hours and such...I have no idea about the shooting water part for the kids...but if I do find out I can comment once I get back. I posted this on the Restaurants thread and the 1 response I got was that they didn't notice food on the menu. Maybe they bring out sandwhiches and salads from AP at lunch time but don't advertise it....I guess I will find out in a few days! Thanks for your responses

Hmmm, I'm the one that answered on the restaurant forum and I said a few food items are offered. As I said, I'm pretty certain there are no hot dogs or burgers. I noticed cold sandwiches but we didn't order. My son and I were on the DDP and counter service is the hardest to use up for my family. The bar doesn't take DDP so we didn't get sandwiches there. I was told the bar is open until 6 or 7pm every night but it certainly closed earlier than that one night last week. But it was open every day of our stay.

Corinnak, to activate the spraying horses, you have to touch a rubber footpad on the ground next to each horse.

Hmmm...we were there over the latter end of T-week and into the next week and it seemed to us those sprays never turned off!!! My kids LOVED them!!!! In fact b/c of them SSR is now my DD's (7yo) favorite resort. They seemed to be on in the morning before we left for the parks and I know they were on later in the night as my kids were out there in them past 9:00 at night!!! They loved that our villa was right in the building facing the pool - easy commute to fun.

Now the pool bar did seem to have very short hours. It was closed when we left in the morning. We'd see it open as we came back for our afternoon break and then it would be closed again when we were going to get dinner. So we never even tried to use it.

We were there a week in May and our room overlooked the pool and we NEVER saw the bar open once. I wish they would post hours!
