Hi-
Does the snack bar at the pool (at the actual resort) serve drinks? I know the one at the beach house does, but can't find any info on the other snack bar.
Thanks!

I'm fairly certain the answer is NO. When we stayed a couple years ago one of the things that amazed us was the lack of an on-site restaurant and lounge. There was no place on site to get a drink.

We were there at the end of March and there was no bar at the main pool. You could buy beer in the store but we got our's off site to keep in the room. The pool bar at the beach house was also closed at the time of our visit. Bummer!

There is no actual "bar" at the main pool, but you can order beer and mixed drinks (pina coladas, margaritas etc.) . Trust me, we were just there May 17th and we did "indulge" !! They were very tasty! Have a wonderful time, Hilton Head is wonderful!!!!! We had a GREAT time!!!

Laura;)

Another nice thing about the HH resort being as small as it is...you can always take a short walk back to your room to fix your own choice of beverage and bring it back with you!

;)

I was initially upset about the lack of lounge and resturaunt until I took the Member's tour (can't remember the name). It seems that the powers that be in Hilton Head refused to let Disney put in a resturaunt and bar. I think they want the revenue from the additional tourists. The CM who took us on the tour didn't seem too pleased about that herself. I don't know if it's true, but now I blame the government of Hilton Head Island for Disney's lack of resturaunt and lounge.

Wow -- I'm actually glad that they decided not to put a full restaurant/bar at the resort at Hilton Head! Longview Island is so small, I think maximizing the number of villas offered, without having to build them as highrises, was the right thing to do.

They were also initially planning on having retail space in the buildings along the boardwalk and I am really glad that they didn't do that either! Parking is at such a premium already, I can't imagine what it would be like if there were stores, restaurants, etc. to draw in people who aren't staying at the resort.

There are so many restaurants so close by in Hilton Head. Even if there were a full restaurant at the resort, I doubt we would use it often, since we love to try some of the other options, and we often cook in our villa while we're there.

Can you tell I love the Hilton Head Resort just the way it is???

;)

I'm with you Disneyacholic!
I love HHI DVC just the way it is...I think it is more relaxing without all the shops and restaurants. Just walk across the bridge and you have shops galore and restaurants a plenty. Then if you jump in your car it is unlimited.

And i do know DVC was given a hard by the HHI building commitees....heard lots of stories from people living on the island....But I think everything worked out for the best.
