Pool at Fort Wilderness - slick

Last time we were there 5 years ago when I got into the pool the floor was slick - asked the lifeguard and he said it was due to all the suntan lotion. Due to a medical condition I had to get out - not knowing what the pool had "growing" in it. Just wondered if anyone else I had problems like that.

Not sure anyone can ever know what "is growing " in any public pool anywhere. I know at home, on a few occasions the surfaces of our pool would feel slippery due to a kind of algae, which was quite harmless and easy to clear up. (Not saying this is the case here.)
I feel confident they maintain a pool are protocol that includes frequent testing and treating. Pool conditions can change quickly according to swimmer load, temperatures, sunshine, etc. not to mention body fluids, swim diapers and the like! I bet that suntan lotion is a factor in that too.
Not sure I would trust someone's speculation as to the cause of the slickness if it might impact my health. (Although we still use them, we call public pools and hot tubs "human stew")

1) The pools in The World, and The Fort are tested frequently.
2) I doubt any "nasties" were present.
3) But, "oil slicks" from tanning oil is a problem.
4) If not allergic to tanning creams, there is no risk.

NOTE: In some resorts, even worldwide, you MUST shower before using
the pool for this very problem. In fact, most municipal and golf-club
pools require it. AND, you are not permitted to use tanning oil at the
pool unless in a special area where they can see you pass thru the
showers on the way to the water.
