Has anyone seen this movie yet. My DH bought it for my DD2 and I was wondering what others thought about it. It looks really cute but some disney movies can be scary for a 2 year old.

I just wanted to check because she was told we could watch it tomorrow because she has a cold so we won't be going anywhere. However that does not allow me enough time to watch it before her.

TIA:wizard:

DD4 has been driving me crazy to get it-but a friend took her to girls (4 & 7 )to see it -the 4 yr old got bored real fast but the 7 yr old watched it-they all thought it was not too great. I think it's along the line of Pokemon-ish? I will rent it from RedBox this weekend(can't go wrong for $1 a night!) If she likes it I'll get it for her. Hope that helped.

It is a beautiful anime. My kids loved it, especially the 6 year old. It is not particularly fast paced, so it depends on what kind of movies your kid likes. I think there was one part that got a tad creepy, but not over the top. Nothing like Pokemon imo.

It is adoreable! My kids loved it! There is a part where the mother acts a bit
"unstable", but seems to have gone over their heads, was pretty fast, I thnk. Other than that, it was one of the best kids movies I have seen in a really long time.

It is precious. Ponyo is now my DS 3 new favorite. We watched it twice on our rental and on payday I am getting it to add to our collection.

I cannot wait to see Ponyo. I'm a huge Miyazaki fan! If you haven't already seen any of his work there are plenty out there that you and your family might enjoy. Some of his work include Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. But some of these movies will definitely need to wait until your little girl gets older.

If you google ponyo coupon, there is a 10.00 one out there, but it expires on 3/7, not sure when payday is, but hope its before the 7th!

FWIW, this particular Miyazaki film is one of the more appropriate of his films for younger children. My ODD saw Ponyo in the theatre last summer and really enjoyed it. By far his best for little ones is My Neighbor Totoro, a film my ODD has been watching since she was about 2 and still loves. Ponyo is a beautiful film, like all Miyazaki films, and shouldn't be compared with other Disney films as Disney is only the US distributor for Miyazaki films. They don't have anything else to do with them other than US distribution.

If you have a Best Buy, you can get two copies of Ponyo on Blu Ray (with a regular DVD too) for about $23 total (after tax). It worked out for me to be $11.53 per movie (which is quite a bit better than the $14.99 plus taxes that was the best deal other than that). The register will automaticallly take $10 off if you buy two on the same order--there is a sale for buy Ponyo, get $10 off another movie by that studio and the register is allowing the second movie to be another copy of Ponyo. Then you can use two $10 off Ponyo Blu Ray coupons (from www.ponyocoupon.com)--one coupon for each copy of the movie you bought.

I am splitting a set with my mom. If you only want one copy, you could give one as a gift or sell the unopened one on Craigslist.
