I don't mean to be rude or insulting in any way...we are free to buy what we like/want...and everyone has different tastes...please do not take offense...

but HOW in the world could you buy one of these? :confused3

What were you thinking?

What was GM thinking?

How did this thing ever manage to make it into production?

An Aztek pulled up alongside me at a stoplight this morning...and got me to thinking.

What is it like drive a car that has been consistently ranked in the top ten worst cars/ugliest cars of all time?

from Time:

From BusinessWeek:
Pontiac Aztek

"There must have been a front-end design team and a rear-end design team. And the two teams NEVER spoke to each other!"

"The only car that can make a Pacer wagon look good."

"It looks like a mini-trash truck."

Was the Aztek the one they marketed by saying you could attach a tent to the back and camp out of it?

Our friend works for GM and he doesnt even mention the "a" word:)

Yep, I'm pretty sure that was it. I also remember Rosie O'Donnell talking about how much she loves hers and she will always drive one. Okayyyy

There was a tent kit for the Honda Element so that might be what you are thinking of. There might be one for other vehicles but that was the first one I recall that wasn't a pickup. They have had truck bed tents for year.

I've read that "underneath" it's actually a pretty good vehicle...but looks-wise...:scared1:

I know several people that drive them as a company car

Salesperson: I'm here for an appointment with Mr. Manager
Receptionist: Oh, did you pull up in the Aztek?
Salesperson: Why, yes I did. That's our company car.
pause
Receptionist: Mr. Manager is busy right now, can we reschedule?

If you drive an Aztek, please forgive me... but every time I see one all I can think is "Wow, a car that's been pre-rear-ended!"

My dad had one as a rental once when they first came out. I was pregnant with DS9. It was HORRIBLE. The ride was terrible. At one point I was sitting in the back seat and had to make him stop so I could get out, I was so uncomfortable.

I think my dad ended up 'trading' it for a different rental 1/2 way through the vacation.

It was one of the "Survivor" yellow and black ones too...man it was ugly!

Just think if you were one of the Survivor contestants who won that thing...you had to pretend you liked it on national television....

One of the ugliest things ever made.

Now for just plain stupid, let us look this way to the Nissan Cube...

It's ugly - but the Nissan Cube has it beat!

Here's my theory.

In 1987, GM hired the entire AMC design team when that brand was retired and Chrysler acquired Jeep and Eagle. Then, they locked them all in a bunker for 14 years and let them do whatever they wanted. In 2001--drawing on the design inspiration behind the Pacer and the Gremlin and fueled by more than a decade of isolation--this crack team unleashed their brain child on the unsuspecting U.S. public.

Like I said, it's a theory.

Funny that you mention the Nissan Cube.

On a road trip the other day with my DH, as we pass said vehicle
Me: I thought cars were supposed to be aerodynamic. What's aerodynamic about a Cube?
DH: Absolutely nothing. (LOL)

karenos;)

That is how I feel about the Ford Flex. It is too boxy looking for me and I hate the ones with the white top.
