I am heading down in april and trying to figure out whats best to do .. I am debating on getting the APP or the 10 day everything with no exp.. I am 50/50 on going back again within a yr ..What would most of you do ? I think that if I get the APP and the recent add on of 50 pts I added , That i will probably go again for at least a weekened sometime the end of this yr when airlines go cheaper in the fall months.. NEed some help here ? :smooth:

I think if you are pretty sure you will be headed down again before the year is through, you should get the AP. Plus, don't forget we get that $100 off of the AP. Not sure what the MYW w/no expiration would cost. But, especially if you are considering getting more points, the chances are good you'll be there again before a year is through.

The difference is basically a total of 200 bucks for a 10 day MYW ,hopper and no exp.. If I purchase now , and dont redem it until april 21 , is it a yr from that day ? :bounce:

If you purchase an AP now, you will receive vouchers in the mail that you will activate when you physically get there. They will be good for 1 year from the day you activate them.

I dont know how many tickets your looking at but if your talking $200 difference you must be talking about ALOT of tickets

I may be wrong and sorry if I am but

Premium AP is about 549-125(dvc discount): $425
10 day w/everything: $402(advance)
10 day w/everything $413(no advance)

so it really comes down to how many days you will use on AP. if you use 11 park days and/or 6 plusses then AP wins

if under 10 then its no brainer just get 10 day myw

i dont think 1 extra weekend cuts it unless you were already going for full week at another time. A 5 or 6 day trip and a weekend doesnt add up for an AP

Hey sj .. This is where i am in a loss . We need two adults and 1 child .. Total equals just under 1200 bucks. Same thing with a prim AP is 10 difference..

Do you get a food discount with MYW? That also helps justify the cost of an AP. If you are also using the cash discount on rooms, then the AP could be justified on the basis of discounts alone.

Wait a minute, I thought the voucher was good one year from date of purchase???? Didn't they change that awhile ago from date of activation to date of purchase now? Please, someone help! Did they change it back?

No, the AP is good for a year from when you get it activated. You may be thinking of the DDE card. That is good a year from when you order it, approximately. (I ordered mine yesterday and it's good until 3/31/06, because it takes time to get here).

We were in the same boat.

Have you considered going through AAA on the MYW? They quoted me a saving off of the advance purchase price for the Prem MYW w/no exp.

We're going that route b/c of to many variables and "what ifs" coming up in the next year for our family.

One thing that is playing into our planning right now is using the plusses or not. It is my understanding that you are paying for a limted amount of pluses with the 10 day tickets but with a PAP, there is no limit on those pluses. Am I wrong?

I like to have a reference whereby I can compare all the options. This link to AllEarsNet.com is my favorite for this purpose. In the OP's case, I think sjdisneywedding's analysis is right on here, and that unless the OP plans 11 or more park days in the 12 month period, that the MYW tix might be the most cost-efficient choice. Then again, getting 1 PAP to get the $25 DDE discount would likely cover the difference for that one ticket, so maybe 1 PAP and 2 (1 adult 1 child) MYW no expiration tix.

Yes but the question is not whether or not the plusses are unlimited but how many more will you want to use over the 5 on the 10 day MYW. I actually made a mistake in this regard when I purchased my PAP. I knew I had leftover plusses but there were more than I thought. I should have boought a regular AP.

As far as I'm concerned the rule of thumb is:
#1. Will I be in the parks for at least 11 days for a minimum of 4 hours each of those days?
#2 For the MYW plusses the question is will you go to a DisneyQuest or Waterpark at least twice...or a PI club at least 5 times...or a multiclub visit in PI at least three times.
#3 For the premium part of the pass the question is essentially the same.

If you know you will use some of the other AP benefits as well I think you can use that idea to reduce your AP breakeven point.

For me...if I didn't know for sure I would do the 11 days before my pass expires I wouldn't buy an AP. A room discount put me over the top in my decision because I was going that weekend anyway. I wouldn't normally consider it in my calculation of breakeven.
