Anyone know if I can buy the Mickey poncho's before we get into the parks? I'd like to be prepared, if at all possible :confused3:

Ponchos are usually available at the resort gift shops, Downtown Disney and many of the kiosks/shops outside the park gates. They are normally not "displayed" until the weather turns bad, but you can ask for them, they are generally under the counter.

I always just get the clear kind 2/$1 at the dollar store - they are folded very small and fit nicely in a bag or purse - just wear Mickey clothes and you'll be all set if it rains - plus, these are so cheap I consider them disposable, which is nice to not have to dry a poncho in your hotel room

One other hint would be to get a strange color if you can. One the rain starts, everyone in the park looks the SAME in ponchos and it can be a bit scary if you were to get seperated from small children with everyone looking similar. They would not be able to find YOU even if you could locate them quickly (hopefully).

I agree. Buy the cheap clear ones and display your shirt. We purchase 1 a -day for each of us so that we can throw them away when we take them off. We keep enough so that if we want to use them on Kali, we can. I would much rather have a lot of them that are cheap that I can toss instead of having to tote an $8 poncho around all day that is wet. :earboy2:

:umbrella: I like this suggestion, but to save money and use cheap ponchos, I have another suggestion. We have tags that are laminated that we just attach to ours. We take them off and use them again. Because they are laminated, they do not ruin when wet. Put them on your backs, because your family will obviously recognize your face. Try doing something creative with the Mickey paint chips from Home Depot. :umbrella:

We buy the throw away ones also. I hate the thought of carrying around that big Mickey Poncho all day log.(I already own 2 :rolleyes2 ) I love just pulling them off and tossing them in the trash can. They are small enough that I can carry 2 each per day, just in case.

We have bought Mickey ponchos in a pinch.
I like to have Dollar Tree ponchos on hand. There are two in a $1 packet. For 50 cents each if I even decide to throw them away after use, it is not a big issue. So far I have been happy many times to have them on hand. We can get some good rainfalls here.
I even keep an used pack in my car. One poncho is clear. One is bright pink.
I bought a $1 foldable umbrella at Dollar Tree. One good gust turned it inside out and broke a spoke. But again, for a buck I don't feel so bad even if I use it one day.
:confused3

Thanks for the tips...don't know why I didn't think of those disposable ones before. :confused3 Makes alot more sense to be able to throw them away instead of carrying around the expensive Mickey poncho's. You guys rock! :cheer2:

If I end up having to buy a poncho at the parks is it $8 for any size poncho ?
Is it the same price at the resort and at the park?
Thanks.

Go for the cheapo ponchos, and buy extra's. We went during rainy season and used an extra one or two to put over the kids' strollers too.

Another tip if you get caught in the rain: to dry your shoes out overnight, stuff them with newspaper. Otherwise you'll have wet shoes the next morning too!

We just returned and I believe I overheard a CM tell a woman the child's size is $6.

Another vote for the disposables though. We bring 1 per person and I keep a ziploc to store them in my backpack when the rain stops.

Absolutely! I pack 2 per person (2/$1 at Dollar Tree) and then toss one midway through our trip. We don't use ponchos at all around home, so buying a Mickey one has never meant anything to us. We'd rather spend the $$ on something else.
:cool1:

if you have a Family Dollar, they have childrens ponchos for $5 with characters on them. I didn't really look to see what characters, just glanced at the price. At my store, they are at the front with umbrellas on a rack.

I like the idea of disposable ponchos (I was wondering how you get them all folded up again?), but can someone suggest a place in southern California where I can buy them? I'll be at WDW in July.

I picked up two adult ponchos(red and blue) from Family Dollar last week. They were only $3.00 each.

Sam's in Orlando had 4 mickey poncho's for $20 last summer. Don't know if they are a regular item.

Walmart is usually a good place to get them. I think they're in the camping supply area. Or, any outdoor/camping supply store.

When I was around a sophomore in college (1997) I went to Old Navy and bought a really cool poncho that folds into itself and can fit in your purse. I don't know where I'd be without it!
