DH and I are going to WDW July 17-22. I know that more than likely, it will rain at some point. I bought us each one of those extremely cheap ponchos that will ultimately just last through one shower. I thought these would be better than buying some heavy duty ones that will weigh our bags down while at the park. However, do I need to buy us each 6 of these cheap ponchos? Or will we receive the showers/rain as welcomed relief and not bother with ponchos? We are staying on site, so I think there's always the option of going back to our room and changing clothes.

Also, should we take heavy duty ponchos incase it pours the rain all day? Do they sale these in the hotel gift shops? If so, how much are they?

Thanks!

Just from my personal experience of going in June...it rains just about every day. The showers range from short to drenching. We mostly had one, short shower a day, with one day having an extended drenching rain. We just got back from Belize, where it rains a lot like Florida this time of year, and I had packed the cheapie (I think I paid .69 for them) ponchos and found that they do well in light drizzle, but not in heavy downpours and they don't refold easily. We always take our Mickey ones, clear and yellow!, with us when we go just in case. Hope this helps!

The ponchos at WDW ar $6 for childs and $7 for adults (this includes tax). I have two and carry them just in case at certain times during the year. I was out shoping here yesterday and got caught in a storm twice! I had an umbrella, but it was a bit windy so I got quite wet on my legs. Didn't much matter b/c when I got home, my A/C still wasn't fixed! Let's just say I dried pretty quick when the air in the apt is 90 degrees!

You might want to bring your little ponchos and if you end up having to buy mickey ones in a pinch, you will find them all over the parks - if you don't see one in the shop you are in, ask a CM.

Have a great trip!

I don't think you'll have to bring that many. We were there 10 nights and I bought several ponchos...we only used them once, and that was to ride Kali rapids at AK!!!

I always bring a stock pile of those .50 cent ponchos. They are small and weigh nothing. Then when it's done raining I can just toss it in the trash. I hate carrying around a wrinkled wet poncho. The cheap ones will not last you the entire week, they are thinner then garbage bags!
