My advice tonight to all of you still in the early planning stages is this- PLAN PLAN PLAN now and while you have time. I remember thinking I had all the time in the world and obsessing for hours over ideas for the wedding- and getting so frustrated because I couldn't even book at that point. So I slowly accumulated things for the wedding, shipping them to my parents or sending things back with them when they would come to visit. And boy am I glad I did... otherwise I would have nothing now! So many changes happened in our lives all at the same time and the wedding got pushed to the back burner- luckily I had been dreaming and planning for 2 years before that so hopefully everything will still fall into place. Am I stressed now? Yep a little but going through all the stuff I have stashed away I'm realizing how good it is that I had been thinking of the little details all along or I would just be having a very bare bones wedding.
Ok so we did a planning session way back at the end of August that I will now post in case anyone is interested. Here are some pics of the displays at Franck's for those of you looking for a little inspiration.
Honestly I don't remember a ton of details from my planning trip- it seems like so long ago now and we were in the middle of moving from Minnesota to Michigan. We literally dumped our stuff off the moving truck and got on a plane for our planning session. At the time we had been assigned Ken as our planner, we met at Franck's and learned Amy Reindeau would be taking over our wedding (which has been great bc she is FABULOUS). Amy and Ken both sat in our planning session and that worked out well bc I got 2 viewpoints on my choices.
Then I got to taste CAKE! As many of you know I had a slight obsession with cake during my planning process...
I am so glad we got to taste the cake. We picked different than what I would have without tasting them. I love red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting but for some reason Disney's version just wasn't my favorite- something was off, the texture? not really sure but we didn't choose it. We ended up LOVING the choice that I had been deliberating over but was too nervous to pick without tasting- LEMON WITH TROPICAL MOUSSE- it was both of our top picks

Our other layer will be chocolate cake with raspberry mousse- I usually don't like chocolate cake but paired with the raspberry it was TO DIE FOR! As for the design of the cake I recently made a rather drastic decision and totally changed the design. Not even DF knows this so I am going to leave it a surprise. I'm really nervous though- it will either be a disaster or a masterpiece. Wish me luck!
After the cake we met with our florist- Warren. I had never heard of Warren before so this made me a little nervous (switching planners didn't bother me but for some reason the 'unknown' florist makes me uneasy

) He is very nice and seemed very knowledgable. He definitely wasn't pushy or overly opinionated which is probably good but by this point I was feeling a little indecisive and could have used some help (and DF had no opinions). Luckily Amy and Ken stepped up and gave me some direction and soon floral was done. We will soon have get to see the finished product!
Up next... pics of The Summer House (reception site) and our tasting!
