So since I'm on the topic of my brother's wedding I thought I'd post some pics of the shower my mom and I threw to welcome my new SIL to the family. We used the theme "The Perfect Pair" since her main wedding color was green and it turned out super cute. She loved the theme so much she incorporated pears into the wedding centerpieces as well.
Here was the invite, I got them from
www.paperlicious.com and was very happy with them:
Food Set-Up
Beverage Station
My favorite part- chocolate covered bride and groom strawberries (paired)!
These were a HUGE hit. I had posted them earlier in my PJ- I know Disney offers a version of them as well. I got them from Shari's Berries (
www.berries.com) and would definitely order them again!
We also had pear tarts specially made by the pastry chef at the local cafe in town- they were super yummy.
The bride loves sweets so we also got cream puffs, mini eclairs, and mini cupcakes. There were only 10 of us at the shower but we managed to eat all the sweets
I had a centerpiece arrangement made for the bride, she loves daisies so they were a must and I loved the little pears they put in the arrangement. However, I wasn't thrilled with it overall bc the photo I sent that they were supposed to recreate had green orchids in it as well... and I got a very pale barely green carnation instead- not the same

When I asked them about it when I picked it up they said they weren't able to get them in... so they substituted- I know carnations are cheaper but I hadn't given a price cap and would have rather had green hydrangeas or green spider mums. I like carnations but only in tightly packed arrangements like the kissing balls.

I found this super cute recipe box from
www.personalizationmall.com that I ordered and had everyone bring their favorite recipe for the bride
I'm not a huge fan of shower games but mom insisted. We only played 2. The first one was actually a lot of fun, we had a quiz about my brother since all the guests only knew him and had never met her. It was fun to see what answers she didn't know about him too.
The other game we played was where you put spices in an unlabeled container and everyone has to guess the spice based on scent alone.
For favors we got pears from Harry and David, put one in each bag.
Then we got pear scented votive candles from Yankee candle and put those in little sheer green bags with a printed thank you tag that matched the invites and put them on top of the pears.
Last minute we found these great reusable shopping bags with pears on them so we tied ribbon around them and used them as well
I had never thown a shower before but I think it turned out well and was a lot of fun.
