PolynesianBride'sPJ 12/6/10 Sunset Pointe- TEASER PICS UP!

Thanks for all the support everyone:grouphug: Sorry I don't have time to answer everyone individually but my brother's wedding is this weekend so I have tons to do. I worked last night so I need to get some sleep and then get on the road back to Michigan (12 long hours... guess it could be worse- but on very little sleep:eek:). Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly and I will post pics when I get back!

I hope the wedding goes great!

In the end the wedding went well but it made me super glad that I'm having a Disney wedding complete with a wedding coordinator because there was some definite drama to pull the whole thing off. The flowers were delivered a day early, the florist told them this would be fine just to keep the flowers outside overnite... PROBLEM: it was 80 degrees out that night AND we were all staying at a hotel- so did they think we would just leave them in the parking lot???!?!?! Then on the day of we discovered that the pears they were using as part of the centerpieces didn't fit in the vases they planned to use so we had to drive all over town to find pears that fit in the vases:rotfl: There were several other minor catastrophes and like it said in the end it all turned out okay but caused everyone some stress- except the bride and groom who didn't even seem to care and neither managed to get ready in time to have their pics taken separately before the wedding (they didn't hire a professional wedding photographer because they 'don't care about pictures' but my uncle is big into photography and has had multiple pictures published in photography journals and was kind enough to try to document the day as best he could). My oh so gracious brother took to calling me the very unflattering name of the "Wedding Nazi" and made a point of telling DF that he couldn't imagine what I would be like for my wedding... DF informed him that our wedding was well planned and that we had a wedding coordinator through Disney who would make sure all the details were taken care of on the day of so that we (and our families) could be relaxed:thumbsup2 I'm sure my brother will thank me 10 years from now:lmao:

Here's a few pics from my camera... still awaiting the final ones from my uncle:

This is 1 hour before the ceremony... the time they were supposed to be ready to take a few pics! They didn't think about where the guys would get ready so they all invaded my room bc it was the biggest- DF was not happy that I offered this up bc it meant we had to lug all our stuff out and get ready in my parents room plus our room ended up thrashed- we counted over 50 beer bottles all over. The guys had a good time though and that's what matters.

DSC02684.jpg

Not the best pic of him but the only one I got... my dad did the ceremony and did an incredible job! He's definitely hired for mine and my cousins said when they get married they are going to use him too! I told him he's found a new calling for his retirement and that he should go into business- he lives in FL so if anyone needs an officiant let me know- hehehe!

DSC02681.jpg

The happy couple saying their vows! You can see her MOH wearing green, she had wanted all the BM's to wear green but didn't order them in time (lesson learned- order your BM dresses ASAP). The other BM's wore all different black dresses and I thought it looked great and was probably preferred by them. I don't have any close ups of the flowers but they were gorgeous (and HUGE) and despite the drama of driving all over to keep them in fridges overnight they held up well.

The gorgeous bride! She wasn't able to grow her hair out as she wanted so she bought clip in extensions from Sally Beauty for $100 and dyed her hair to match the day of the wedding:scared1: It turned out great though and I'm thinking about getting some extensions and having my hair 1/2 up 1/2 down for our MK/Epcot photoshoot. Oh and it's hard to see in this pic but she is also wearing my wedding necklace as her something borrowed!

I thought the centerpieces looked great after we found pears that fit!

The cake topper was super cute and their cake was confetti cake- so yummy!

I'm glad everything worked out with the wedding! I don't know how people handle the stress of traditional weddings, with all the separate vendors to keep track of! It really makes Disney look even more appealing to me!

I love the brides dress....gorgeous! I'm glad to hear you liked your Dad as an officiant! It is nice that you got a preview for your ceremony :goodvibes

So since I'm on the topic of my brother's wedding I thought I'd post some pics of the shower my mom and I threw to welcome my new SIL to the family. We used the theme "The Perfect Pair" since her main wedding color was green and it turned out super cute. She loved the theme so much she incorporated pears into the wedding centerpieces as well.

Here was the invite, I got them from www.paperlicious.com and was very happy with them:

My favorite part- chocolate covered bride and groom strawberries (paired)!
DSC02601.jpg

These were a HUGE hit. I had posted them earlier in my PJ- I know Disney offers a version of them as well. I got them from Shari's Berries (www.berries.com) and would definitely order them again!

We also had pear tarts specially made by the pastry chef at the local cafe in town- they were super yummy.

The bride loves sweets so we also got cream puffs, mini eclairs, and mini cupcakes. There were only 10 of us at the shower but we managed to eat all the sweets:lmao:

I had a centerpiece arrangement made for the bride, she loves daisies so they were a must and I loved the little pears they put in the arrangement. However, I wasn't thrilled with it overall bc the photo I sent that they were supposed to recreate had green orchids in it as well... and I got a very pale barely green carnation instead- not the same:mad: When I asked them about it when I picked it up they said they weren't able to get them in... so they substituted- I know carnations are cheaper but I hadn't given a price cap and would have rather had green hydrangeas or green spider mums. I like carnations but only in tightly packed arrangements like the kissing balls.

I found this super cute recipe box from www.personalizationmall.com that I ordered and had everyone bring their favorite recipe for the bride

I'm not a huge fan of shower games but mom insisted. We only played 2. The first one was actually a lot of fun, we had a quiz about my brother since all the guests only knew him and had never met her. It was fun to see what answers she didn't know about him too.
DSC02590.jpg

The other game we played was where you put spices in an unlabeled container and everyone has to guess the spice based on scent alone.

For favors we got pears from Harry and David, put one in each bag.
DSC02588.jpg

Then we got pear scented votive candles from Yankee candle and put those in little sheer green bags with a printed thank you tag that matched the invites and put them on top of the pears.
DSC02591.jpg

Last minute we found these great reusable shopping bags with pears on them so we tied ribbon around them and used them as well

I had never thown a shower before but I think it turned out well and was a lot of fun.

I agree, Disney is the way to go for weddings! It was great to be able to see my dad in action before our wedding, I think it is going to be so special to have him marry us!

So I was able to make our ADR's for the first part of our wedding trip. We got almost everything we wanted:

Sunday 11/28: Dinner at Fulton's
Monday 11/29: Dinner at SanAngel Inn (hoping to turn this into a candlelight processional package when they release the details)
Tuesday 11/30: Dinner at Jiko
Wednesday 12/1: DF's parents arrive (no ADR's)
Thursday 12/2: Lunch at Sci-Fi with DF's parents
Friday 12/3: Majority of guests arrive- no ADR's
Saturday 12/4: My parents have offered to host a welcome breakfast at Chef Mickey's:banana: I tried to set this up by calling the group dining # but they said I have to call Chef Mickey's directly:confused3 I left a message but no one has returned my call yet:mad:
Sunday 12/5: Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue for "Rehearsal Dinner". DF's parents are insisting on treating everyone to this which is super nice (and what prompted my parents to host a welcome breakfast:upsidedow)

I was told by group dining I couldn't make anymore group reservations til 6/8 which will be 180 days til we check into Poly. We check out of CBR on 12/5 and this is the last day they would let me make reservations for. This is frustrating because online it lets you book for 10 days from your arrival date but it appears that our switching hotels the day before the wedding is not working to our advantage when it comes to ADR's for the wedding day! It's like I'm being punished for upgrading to a nicer hotel for the last part of our trip:sad2:

Online I was able to make an ADR for dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table for Tuesday 12/7 the day after our wedding, then we are going to go to MVMCP that night!:santa:

So now I have to wait to make the rest of our ADR's til 12/8:
We just want Narcooses on Thursday 12/10 and the Spirit of Aloha Dinner show for our last night there! Since we are staying club level we plan to take advantage of snacking on the food offerings there.

The shower looks amazing! What a great job!

That's great you got some of your ADR's done. If we are able to still make our Christmas trip, we will also (well hopefully) be going to Jiko on the 30th...yes I planned out everything even though we cannot book yet:rotfl:

That is weird they are making you wait for the rest of your ADR's. Maybe you can try calling back and see if someone else will do it for you. When I made mine, I had no problem reserving all 10 days, and I was at 2 different resorts. :confused3

If you guys end up going you have to let me know! I could try to change our ADR to be for 4 and we could do dinner! Our ressie is at 6:30 so let me know if you're interested- it would be sooo fun!

I think I will call back and see if someone else will make the ADR's for the full 10 days for us, it just seems kind of silly. That's the thing about Disney- sometimes it seems you get a different answer each time you ask!

Not that there is any problem with "local" weddings, but they always make me glad that I chose Disney - so much less stress over vendor coordination and similar things.

I think that you did an amazing job with the shower. The theme was really cute!

I'm glad you got most of the ADR's you wanted! Dining is an important part of the trip so you want to be happy with what you get.

I'm so glad I got married at Disney as well. DH & I were looking at our friends wedding photos the other day and remembering it and everything at ours was so much better like the food and photo backdrops.

Adelia,

Finally got caught up on your PJ!! Everything looks like it is going well!! It's too bad about your brother, I totally understand why you would be upset, and I don't think it's selfish at all!!! Like someone else said, maybe he could come by himself if his wife can't come??

The shower you threw was awesome!! I totally love the pear theme!! Everything went together so nicely!!

Reading your ADR's totally made me want to go back to Disney RIGHT NOW!! Can't wait to hear more.....

Sorry all, I am still here. Life has been a bit crazy and that has put wedding planning on hold. DF graduated on 8/20 and we have moved back to MI. We were trying to buy a house in MI so we spent our last few months in MN driving back and forth- we put offers in on the first house and after 3 weeks we couldn't negotiate a reasonable deal so we put an offer in on a short sale- only to find out on Friday that the bank refused our offer (even though we offered the asking price which was fair market value). Grrrrr... we had moved in with the future in-laws because we thought it was just a matter of a few weeks on the short sale house and now we're back to square one!!!!!!

Back to the fun stuff though- here is a quick update to tide you all over... we decided to switch and do a private meal after the wedding. Ohana has just had so many mixed reviews and I was getting way too anxious about us all being able to sit together. We switched our ceremony time to noon and are having a private lunch reception afterwards at Summer House at the Grand Floridian. We are still waiting on the BEO but tentatively our menu is:

Pre-Reception:
Antipasta Display

Reception:
Ohana Honey Lime Salad
LeCellier Beer Cheese Soup
Tropical Fruit Salad
Grill Station with Steak grilled to order, grilled shrimp, and caribbean jerk chicken skewers
Vegetable Kabobs
Mashed Potato Bar

We are having the bamboo chairs for the ceremony with green sashes. The reception will have white chair covers and tablecloths with green chair sashes and fuschia napkins tied with a green ribbon.

Floral will be fuschia roses, orange calla lillies, and green cymbidium orchids- the centerpieces may have some additional tropical flowers and foliage mixed in. We are not doing boutineers or corsages but are using leis instead. I bought some really nice artificial ones but am pricing out what it will cost to get real ones.

We are going to go with a Mad Hatter Cake and have decided on chocolate with raspberry for one layer and lemon with tropical mousse for the other.

I am doing the invitations through Zazzle and need to get them ordered in the next few days. I am going to order custom embroidered shirts (DF's will be white with khaki embroidery and the rest of the guys will be brown with khaki embroidery) and khaki linen pants from www.weddingtropics.com- working on getting the guys to get their measurements to me to get this done ASAP!

So sorry this is so rushed and there are no pictures. Thanks for following along though- I can't believe how close it's coming up!
