Polynesian Tour

I don't understand the no storage idea. Disney has never been that great with storage, but really with the drop down bed there is even less.

Ok that was fun now on to.., Drum Roll here, the Fort Wilderness DVC! Like Mike and others, why stay here unless you really, really really are in Love with Poly. We will spent a couple of nights there, maybe in the bungalows, but we/I really love the 1bed room units at VGF. Chow Moe

Tease! I love the Poly but I adore Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness (and our home at AKV). But....with the direction they have taken with the last 2 resorts I'm concerned that if they do build at Ft Wilderness, or between Ft Wilderness and WLV the overall cost would be insane. Tepees or small cabins in that area would be amazing!

WOW! looks like the GFV will have more storage space then poly studios:rotfl2: 4 in a studio and still no where to put cloths. Come on Dvc wake up. We also won't buy at Poly. If we sell our house we could stay in a bungalow for how long ?

Hmm...we just bought a house in Lakeland about 45 minutes door to door from WDW this past summer. A little over 2600sq ft, on 0.9 acre. If we sold it for what we paid we could spend about a week and a half a year in a bungalow during Adventure season.....and I only included annual dues for one year in figuring that out. Kinda puts it in perspective.

After viewing the video... I rather buy more VGF points.

The only other resort I would be interested in is BWV, more so of its location since Epcot is our favorite resort.

I'm a 1 bedroom villa person so way too small for anything more than a weekend but 325,000 views in a day is a ton of interest

Question -

Is the model (and the video posted), the same size, square footage, etc, as the actual studios? I assumed they would make it exact, but obviously the SSR rooms are smaller so if they have the model set up there, I didn't know if that meant it was SSR size.

They said it was the same size. If I'm not mistaken they make the models to be the exact size and layout of what the actual product will be. They are at SSR by the sales center but aren't SSR rooms. It was nice because they also have VGF and Aulani models. We've stayed at VGF in a 1 bedroom (it was huge and very nice) but looked at the VGF studios prior to looking at the Poly studios. The Poly studio is wider for sure. The guide said it's a bit longer but I didn't get that feeling; that's most likely because the 2 bathrooms take up so much space. Then we saw the Aulani 1 bedroom and those blew us away. Having only stayed in 1 bedrooms (and regular hotel rooms prior to owning DVC), it's really hard to justify buying the Poly after seeing the Aulani 1 bedroom. Both similar styles - Aulani is more modern Polynesian feel and Poly is a more retro Polynesian feel but really a studio is a nice hotel room, a very nice one but still a hotel room, while a 1 bedroom is a villa...it just has a better wow factor...at least for us.

Does anyone know if there will definitely be connecting studios? As much as I would have preferred a 1 bed option like everyone else, if I can get connecting studios I would book two (one for the kids and one for us). Not having a full kitchen and laundry would suck but we'd survive. I probably wouldn't stay there if it weren't for the fact that it's DH's favorite resort and he hasn't stayed there since he was a kid so I'd do it for him.
Connecting studios have been consistent selling points, so I'd be dumbfounded (again) if they didn't have a connecting studio booking category -- much like 2 bedroom lock-off, which is just virtual inventory combining a studio and 1 bedroom. Surprisingly, however, they didn't have a category for a Adjoining Studio Lock-off in the point chart -- so not sure what's going to happen. If they don't that is (yet another) major misstep on the poly IMO. I know you'll still be able to request adjoining rooms, but requests are never guaranteed, and you can't find out until check-in, so unless you want to split up a family and risk having one parent have to stay in one Studio, and one stay in another, a request isn't going to cut it.

I love the Poly but there is no place to put your clothes!!
There is underbed dresser drawers reportedly (like VGF).

Nah, next project will be conversion of VWL -- most likely more Studios...maybe some lake side Bungalows (I keed, I keed).

The PVB Master Declaration has floor plans of all the studios in the Moorea Longhouse. Every studio forms a connecting pair. See this article which contains a copy of the floor plan.

I don't think its much of a surprise that "Connecting Studios" is not a separate category on the point chart. Keep in mind that a Lock-off Two-Bedroom is a separate booking category at other DVC resorts but it never appears on the point charts. However, I agree that Member Services should have connecting studios as a separate booking category. I can see families booking two studios so that the kids have one studio and mom and dad have the connecting studio. They will want a guarantee the studios will be connecting, not just a "we'll try to honor your request but we can't promise" response.

Right you are about no separate category for lock-offs in the points chart--I'm too used to looking at my own point charts since I break out 2-bedroom lock-off separately since the layout/occupancy are different. Carry on :)

Sorry if I missed this, but do we know yet how many points are required for a studio stay? And do we know what the earliest people can begin staying in them is?

Did I miss it or does it not have any closet
There is a small closet with double doors. You can see it towards the end of the video. It contains a large safe, ironing board and the pack'n'play (and eventually a vacuum cleaner and high chair will probably be stored in there too) so there won't be much room to hang up clothes other than a few shirts. I think I saw a small cubby just below the safe but the video was a bit dark so I'm not sure if that's what it was or not.

ETA: eliza61 is correct, the closet is next to the kitchenette. Starting at about 3:30 in the video you will see it to the right as the video moves into the kitchenette area. After the tour of the kitchenette, they open the double doors and show the interior of the closet. And now that I look at it again, there is a small cubby below the safe.

April 1 is the day we arrive at WDW - for our first stay at VGF...Maybe I will stroll on over and see how it is going.....:rolleyes1

Do they do anything fun on opening day? I have no interest in owning Poly...I am a VGF kind of girl, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a dole whip and watch the festivities :)
