I posted this on the Orlando Resorts board, too, but I thought I might get a bit more input from this board AND since it does involve the Polynesian, too--I don't feel really guilty taking up additional space. ;)

While I've seen this hotel each and every trip, I've never stayed and am interested in any info I can get about it.

Due to a schedule change by the airlines, we opted to spend an extra night at WDW (taking full advantage of our UMP/PAPs). Since we will now be taking a fairly early a.m. flight out of Orlando, we thought it would be nice to stay late in the parks, return to Polynesian, grab our luggage, and head directly to the airport hotel. We will play by ear our day and leave when we are ready since we will have access to concierge service all day at Polynesian.

I was able to book a room at HROA for $129 which I thought was a good rate--anyone have any insight? Travelocity has this hotel at 5 smilies AND a rate of $295+. Any advice on rooms, locations, etc.? I've already requested NS, quiet, with a balcony. Is it worth spending a few hours at the hotel for the pool/services/to unwind?

Thoughts/advice please. . .

We stayed at the Hyatt in the airport last August. We also had a very early morning flight and it was so convenient to stay there and not have to get up as early in the morning. We just had Tiffany Town Car pick us up at the Poly in the evening and take us to the Hyatt. We explored some shops in the airport, etc. but did not investigate the Hyatt very much. I think all of the rooms are very similar and just your basic hotel room. I would spend as much of your time as possible at the Poly before going to the Hyatt. We went to the parks, swam in the volcano pool, ate dinner, and then headed to the airport. I don't think I'd pay anything for extras at the Hyatt but just get the basic standard room. We had a patio and our view was of part of the airport but it was nothing I wanted to sit out there and look at. I think we paid around $129 also.

We also stayed at the MCO Hyatt at the end of our trip in November. We actually had a "free" night because of my husband's frequent travel program. It worked out great for us!

We had an early Sunday morning flight home--we spent the whole last day doing our favorites at the parks and also took advantage of an E-night at MK! We were extremely tired--but it was worth it!

We didn't get to MCO until after midnight! My husband ran in and checked us in while I unloaded our luggage (with the help of a bellman) and my now sleeping 8 year-old! My husband returned our rental car and I headed up to our room. We just left our luggage on the cart for our early morning departure the next day. The room was very clean and quiet--we only got about 6 hours of sleep.

The next morning, the bellman came and helped us get our luggage to the main terminal for our flight home. It worked out great!:)

Have fun!

Sue:)

We frequently stay at the Hyatt MCO since our plane gets in so late. It is by no means a marvelous hotel. We have stayed in amazing Hyatts and this is not one of them. It is clean and comfortable. They offer room service. But, I agree with the other poster -- spend as much time at the Poly and WDW before making the trip to the airport.

We are doing this very same thing the night before we go to the Poly and the night before we fly home.
Can you take one of the airport carts with your luggage to the Hyatt? We are flying Delta, where are they in relation to the hotel?
Also, is there a place to shower/change clothes at the Poly by the volcano pool?

You are able to shower & change at the quiet pool with little interference from other guests. I don't know if the new restroom facilities have showers or not. Even if they did, I would opt to use the quiet pool because it is less heavily trafficked.

We, also, are flying on Delta and won't need an airline cart for luggage--but the information about the Hyatt carts is very helpful since we will only be using the hotel as a departure point!

Thanks everyone who provided me with the terrific advice. I knew I'd get the information I needed here! :D
