Can someone list all of the services offered by staying concierge? Maybe I'll consider it this year.

The things most list as enjoying of concierge is the planning part. Concierge can make all your PSs for you. Being in concierge also gets you into last minute places even if they are full. Concierge is more private where you need a special key to get in. It makes some feel more secure. Personally I considered concierge at the Poly strictly for the view but then decided it wasn't worth it. I love to call for my own PSs as that is a major part of the fun in trip planning so concierg would be useless to me.

The only thing that gets me about the concierge is they put out snacks and a lot of guests use them for meals, so many guests dont get any. People fill their plates several times, or takes 3-4 plates back to their room to get their money worth, only to screw everyone else. Its not fair to other guests, and you should not depend on concierge snacks to feed your children.

OMG ! I have heard about this happening from more and more people. Did you wait around to see if they put out more food after they ran out?

The Poly was one of the last resorts to always have bottled water on hand and that was abused so they no longer have that. I remember lines that went all the way down the hall and food ran out within an hour. Of course they make extra but once that all runs out there is no more food and trust me, within the hour it was all gone.

Truly pitiful...I think maybe people stay concierge beyond their budgets and then try to make up for it. I've never felt inclined to do it and the boards haven't persuaded me otherwise. However, these boards have given me so much of an advantage while planning - go DISboards!

Tis a shame that a few have to spoil it for the many. We have our first stay at the Polynesian coming up in December and I have been very concerned about this concierge snack problem.

It sounds like a situation that occurs at times, but not constantly. For me, I'm not going to let anything spoil my first visit to the Polynesian or the concierge experience. No expectations, no DISappointments.

It seems to me that if desserts and cordials are supposed to be served from 7-9 then Disney ought to have enough dessert and cordials to last untill that time frame is over. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney just as much as the next person but the food is part of the conc. level service. If I'm staying and paying that much money than there had better be food, etc. for my family of five. Just my opinion.

We have never had a problem with there not being enough food at Poly concierge. In fact, we noticed that they almost always had leftovers and would put the leftovers out the next night in addition to all new items too!

We do take food back to our room but we do not bring it back by the platefuls just to hoard it. If we decide not to eat in the lounge we'll bring our plates to the room and eat there. And, I must confess, we do usually bring a little extra back for later (emphasis on little). We've been told by the concierge staff that they don't mind at all if guests take some for later because they always have plenty.

I feel sorry for those of you that have found that the concierge lounge has run out of food while they you there. With the price paid for concierge level I would be pretty upset if that had happened to us!!

Breakfast is included on the ship, but not on land. With the land/sea package, your Poly accomodations will be a standard room, and not concierge level. Hope that helps-

I'll be staying at the Polynesian this summer with my friends when we take a Disney Cruise 7 day Land and Sea trip. We have everything planned, but we aren't sure about something. Is breakfast included in the trip? Any info would be alot of help. Thanks

Yes, you would think when a particular food service has it's time span that there would be enough but during our visit it just ran out and they told us they had no more. This was due to those that came to the lounge to have dinner!!

MPLsDad - - - You asked what was included with concierge service. One of the best parts is all the pre-planning. A concierge staff member will check with you about 90 - 120 days prior to your arrival and take care of making all your PS for you. They also helped us a lot with planning a small birthday celebration for our son the day that we arrived. They made our PS for the Crystal Palace and then they also made sure that the Crystal Palace knew that it was our son's birthday. All we had to do was show up.

One of the biggest reasons we like to stay concierge is because of the view from that building. We get a lagoon view and can see the castle from our room. You really can't get that view from any of the buildings other than the concierge building. We're right there on the beach and can watch the fireworks and the electric water pageant from our room.

Once you're there the concierge staff pampers you. Last year they were able to get us reservations for an illuminations cruise the week before we arrived. (I may have been able to do that myself but can't be on the phone constantly trying.) The cruise was a surprise for our boys and the concierge staff had a lot of fun keeping it a surprise for us. When we returned from the cruise there was a message on our voice mail for our boys telling them that the staff hoped that they had enjoyed their "surprise un-birthday cruise."

I guess it's all in what you're looking for! It's just something that we like to be able to pamper ourselves with occassionally.

We will be staying at the Poly this coming weekend for Mother's day. It's a resort my DH has been wanting to stay at for the longest time and I felt it would be a nice thing for both of us since, from now on, we will be staying at DVC resorts with our points. We considered booking concierge but then decided against it. We have stayed concierge at WL and AKL and liked it, but felt that paying an extra $300 wasn't worth it. We like eating breakfast in concierge and snack on the evening offerings to tide us over until dinner (and a glass or 2 of wine is nice too), but we just do not take advantage of the full service. We're not the types to pile our plates with food to make it a meal and do not use the concierge staff for PS since I like to book my own... so, though concierge is really a wonderful experience, it all depends on what you want and how you vacation. The pampering sure is nice, but you can have a wonderful time without it. I rather spend the extra $300 in inviting my family to Portobello's for dinner and Ohana's for breakfast, and a Mother's day dinner at the Cali Grill.

We stayed Poly. concierge during peak Easter/Spring Break week '05 and never 1 time did the lounge ever run out of anything! Not once! Not anything! Our family ate there every morning, most snack times, and many lite fare times, plus a few later evening cordial/dessert times. We enjoyed both dining in the lounge and bringing small amounts of food and drink either back to our room or down to the beach.

The staff was always professional and courteous. The lounge was well utilized by all and yet it was kept clean and maintained a relaxed atmosphere.

We did overhear a rude family giving the staff a hard time because they arrived after "dinner" time (again, it's lite fare, not dinner) and wanted to get a tray of food to bring back to their room. They even demanded to speak to Chef Dick (a lovely man) and he politely told them that there was no more food as it was past dining time.

Don't go there -- see if we care. But know that we'll be back.

We have stayed at the Poly concierge several times - Christmas, Spring Break included - and we never failed to see plent of food out. Sure - if we came in at the end, there might not be the variety, but I cannot really ever recall a time when there was not sufficient food out for all. And yes - usually - there are leftover pastries out from the night before. Chef Dick is used to how people act in there and makes allowances. He encourages hearty appetites. They are always giving my boys extra gummi worms or candies. We eat a good breakfast in there and the more we go back, the more we are in there for additional offerings. Ihave seen a few that appear to abuse the situtation, butnot many. I have never been there when th crowd goes down the hall!

We love it - my boys - and hubby- never really want to stay anywhere else!

I think the reason it was bad during 2003 was because that was when the Hawaii concierge building was under rehab and was closed and Tahiti become the concierge building. There were no cooking facilities in that building and Chef Dick even told me how hard it was for him to have to prepare everything elsewhere and cart it over. So of course he would prepare what he felt was enough but if it ran out then he definitely had no more whereas in the Hawaii building he could just go in the back and cook more. The doors were also not working properly that year and usually with the Hawaii building you need your key to get in whereas with Tahiti anyone could walk in so I believe alot of the guests that were lined up were not concierge guests. After a bit I'm sure word spread that you could just walk into the Tahiti building and go upstairs and get food. Of course you recognize some guests after awhile because you see them in the halls, etc., but there were many that definitely did not belong there.
IMHO I think that is why there were problems that year.

We were there too (must have passed and never knew it); I have read soooo many posts that fret over hoards of food being confiscated, but I've never witnessed this and there's plenty left over, sadly thrown away, I'm sure.

I'm so glad to hear from a couple of others that there was always plenty of food for them and that they had no major complaints. We've always seen that there was plenty of food and after all the negative comments I was beginning to think that maybe we were really in the minority. I'm just glad to know others have had positive experiences!

I really believe that during rehab of the Hawaii building is where all the problems arose. When we were there in 2002 I had not one problem and there was always plenty. I heard the service is different now so I can't compare what was served back then and now.

We were all set to stay Poly concierge in Aug, 2003, and I read so many horrid comments about it I change to GF Sugarloaf Concierge for only $300 more for 7 days. Sugarloaf was really nice and it was great to experience the Flagship resort. While we were there, we went to the Poly to see what we missed! Nothing! I fail to see the attraction of that resort. Even the much touted new Volcano pool looked really small.
The whole resort reminded me of bad 70's decor, brown and orange. If you want monorail access, I would try the GF or even the Contemporary. However don't forget the great Epcot resorts! We loved the YC last year, and are trying the Boardwalk this year. The easy walk to Epcot and the Friendship boat transportation to MGM (you can even walk too) is just terrific!
