Polynesian resort stay review 5/28 - 6/4 (long)

My last diappointment: I didn't see any DISers! Too much lime green everywhere! I did have a lime green bandana attached to me or my stroller at all times. Bummer! I know at least 2 other DIS families were at the Poly the same time as we were. I was on the lookout, but it was pretty hard given the popularity of lime this season!QUOTE]

Hello :)- Please forgive me for not knowing this answer, but are the DISers people who read and respond to the Disboards? :confused3

Thank you for your post! We just decided yesterday to do a quick birthday trip to the Polynesian this upcoming September and after calling and making reservations, I am beside myself excited!!! We generally stay at the DVC properties and have only spent a short time at the AKL so this is a new experience for us (dining plan and all!)

My questions for anyone...what is the schedule for the remodel and is it noticeable? And are there any particular threads or areas I can go to find more information about the resort so I can drive myself (and by extension, my DH) insane with excitement...??? Places I can find info on which rooms to request, options they have for us to order for DS's #4 birthday, what to do, etc...we had dinner at 'Ohana last time and it is definitely on the list.

I'm really sorry if I am totally missing an obvious thread here, but any help is appreciated!

I went to Polo about 2 years ago and it was very noticable. We were in Fiji at the time. At 9am sharp we heard nonstop construction right next door to us that woke us up every time. We are late bloomers but instead of getting angry at it we took it up as a wake up call for early breakfast and went streight for the boats soon after. From 2 years ago it seemed that everything was underconstruction there but we still had a blast.

Tikiman has a wonderful site with tons of information on the Polynesian. You can google it but I think it is Tikiman.homestead.com.. It may be down until the 12th due to the death of his aunt.

The rennovations that Polofan heard were actual construction on the longhouses. This is just supposed to be cosmetic changes inside the rooms and I don't think you'll hear anything. I know they were redoing Tonga and the only way you could tell was a little "pardon our dust" sign by the entrances to the longhouse.

Polofan, you have a great attitude. Your comment about 9:00 being an early wakeup call made me smile! :sunny:
