I also got to meet Colleen (clombardi) during check in! She said she recognised my DSs from the picture in my signature here on the boards. LOL I really regret not thinking to take out the camera and snapping her picture, but I thought we'd run into her again. Colleen, it was wonderful to meet you, even though it was so briefly. I hope you and your family had a wonderful time!! :sunny:

Terry, It was terrific to meet you too! I think it was funny that you said you felt like you were meeting a celebrity when you met Chef Dick because that's how I felt when I saw you! It was a strange feeling to actually meet someone who you only see in writing and on a picture on the DIS boards. You guys looked so happy to be there! I looked for you whenever we were in the lounge but never found you! Maybe next time! Your pictures are making me want to cry. Nice job!

seaspray,

It was great meeting you and your family. Thanks for the kind words. This is the first time that I have checked the boards since we returned. I would love to write more right now,but I am at the hospital right now with my wife. She is 6 months pregnant and fainted this morning at home. So once things calm down here, I will give you our report.

All the best to you and your family!!

TheRobbs

PS- Love those pix

Robbs- Hope all is well with your wife. Please let us know. Coleen

Just a word of caution on that edible postcard picture: we have received them every time we have stayed in concierge. The first time we ate the picture and it tasted good--sort of tart and had the consistency of a fruit leather or like those Fruit Roll Ups, you know? It was fun "stretching" the picture when we ate it. Then on every subsequent trip they have crumbled and tasted like paper or cardboard and we spit them out every time! I figured that maybe when fresh they are truly edible, but after a couple months of storage or something they get nasty....? I don't know. I knew they were supposed to be edible, but I can tell you the last couple times they definitely were not! LOL Maybe technically, but I couldn't swallow them! LOL

We just attempted to taste the picture yesterday. I took the tiniest bite out of the corner and it tasted like paper, so Dh just stuck it to the refrigerator. It looks so funny there with a tiny mouse bite out of the corner! The psotcard itself is really good, though. It does not have tiny bits out of it. Rather, they are more like Goofy size bites!

I've had more comments about the "Polynesian Pout" picture (people at the resort actually recognized us from the photo). . .here's our 2005 version. . .we were much sadder this year. . .it was an absolutely spectacular vacation!

When we were waiting for the Tiffany Towncar to come get us on 7/14, I remembered your Polynesian Pout picture and we decided to steal the idea. How pathetic do these children look?????

Greetings from the Jersey Shore :wave2:

Sean: Please let us know how your wife is. I hope all is well. Again, it was wonderful to meet you all, and to remember being in the pool that night, watching the fireworks!

Colleen: I love your Polynesian Pout picture! I wanted to take one like that, of us, but by the time our limo arrived, I had literally NO room left on my camera's memory card. lol

Pretty pathetic. . . :rotfl: :rotfl: :flower:

Thanks for posting all the great pictures and the report! It looks like Chef Dick is extremely talented with the knife. I love all his carvings. Also, that anniversary cake looks wonderful. My mouth is drooling from the pictures. It looks like there was a chocolate mousse filling in your cake? And you had a cute Gecko running around in your bathroom! That was truly a tropical vacation! Also, the gold mouse ears were very cool :cool1:

Yes, it was chocolate mousse in the cake. They give you a choice of white or chocolate or marble cake, and they have several fillings to choose from including chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse, passionfruit mousse, lemon mousse, other flavors I can't recall right now, plus fresh fruit. It really was a wonderful cake. :)

I'm glad you liked the pictures :3dglasses

Oh darn! Why did I read this thread! Now I want to go back to the Poly! We are planning a trip for our 10th anniversary in 2006 and Poly is high on our list of hotels to stay at. I loved our stay there in 2003, but may try concierge this time! Seaspray, your pictures are great!
TheRobbs, prayers going out your way. Keep us posted!

We are staying at the GF this Dec. for our anniversary and would love to have one of those cakes delivered to our room. Or maybe I should have 1 of the mickeys with strawberries for husband and a mini cake for myself. Decisions, decisions, decisions.:)

PoohAngel ~ We ordered a cake with a raspberry filling and chocolate icing last year when we were there! Oh my, was it ever delicious!!!!! :hyper:

I'm so excited, DH just told me tonight to start planning our Poly trip!!!! Yeah, originally it was CBR, but he changed his mind tonight! I LOVE your pics Seaspray.....WOW, now I'm even more excited!!!! I'd love to PM you and get some specifics if that's ok.

I know I don't know you - therobbs, but please let us know how your wife is ~ I'm sending many good wishes your way.

This will be our first time at the poly and lvc, I need lots of info!!!!

Thanks so much ~ the pics are just breathtaking !
Our trip is in Feb. 06

Your report and pics were awesome. Makes me miss the Poly too. We did the WL/Poly combo, too, but in June....and not concierge. We did stay GVC twice however. Glad that Chef Dick is still there. My DS will be graduating from HS in June, so I hope we can get in to concierge for this year's trip as a treat for him....he has wanted to be there the last 2 summers and it just didn't work out. Your pics of the lounge made me remember how nice our stay in Hawaii was! Maybe 2006.
We also feel the same way.....Poly is #1 for us, but DH and I really like the WL, too. (for DS....no question - Poly all the way - he and his friend even made there way to the Poly beach for fireworks and snacks while we were staying at the WL.....he just can't help himself).

eeyoresmountainpals,
Thanks, we love raspberry. Was it a little cake or a bigger one, I guess we could order the bigger one and keep it in the litte fridge and munch on it over the next few days.

poohangel ~ It was the bigger cake but it seems if they'd make the bigger cake with that flavor they could do a smaller one as well. Worth asking! There were six of us so it wasn't too hard to finish off it two or three days. (Plus we shared a few pieces with some of the concierge CM's at the desk.) It really was delicious!!!! ::yes::

We've gotten a few postcards from our visits. But I never had the heart to eat them, they look so nice. I have the first one with the postcard from 2000 on my dresser, So I can look it every day.
We did get one last year but when we got home it broke in pieces.

SeaSpray hope you are having a great time on the Jersey shore! I know Bridgewater well, I spent much of my time growing up on my grandparents farm. I'm another south shore girl from Whitman.
