Can't forget the night that DS14 went to take a shower and walked right back out and announced that a salamander was already IN the shower. LOL Being the good DIS board reporter that I am, I just had to go in and snap a few pics of the cute little fellow before DH captured him and released him outside:

OMG! I would have freaked! I am so afraid of those things. I know they can't hurt you, but EEWW!! :scared1: I have had a lizard phobia since the first grade when the zoo brought a display to our classroom and placed the iguana on my desk. He was in his cage but he kept staring at me. I was such a good little student that I was too afraid to get up and tell the teacher that I was terrified.
Anyways, having one of those things in my room is my worst WDW nightmare!

He was tiny, and cute! :teeth: But I have to admit, I was pretty surprised to see him in our bathtub, especially being up on the third floor! :earseek:

I'm with you on that one. I would have freaked out. When DH and I were first married and living in a cheap rental with a wet basement there was a lizard on the wall as I walked down the steps. I screamed my head off so that he came running thinking that I was being attacked :rotfl2: Sometimes I see a lizard near my outside steps, I make a loud noise to scare it and then run like heck to get in the house and slam the door (like it is going to open it up) . :rotfl: I know it doesn't make sense, but I guess most phobias don't.
The Poly pics are so beautiful though that I'm sure I would have gotten over it quickly. :flower:

UGGGG you instanly made me sick to my stomach as soon as I saw those pics! I dont know if I got Poly-Homesick or what but I could so feel my stay there right through your report and pics. Its been 2 and a half years(also concierge stay, maybe thats where you fall in love with it) and several other resorts later, and the Poly still stands at the very top above all others for me. In fact, I dont think I had the Poly Pout, Im pretty sure it was more of a Volcano of Tears leaving the place!! Nothing makes you feel like the Poly does! Thanks for sharing!!

oh and how did you get your boys to replicate the same faces my DS 16 And DS14 make?!?!?! But I will say, if you ask DS16 his favorite visit he will admit he loved the Poly too!

Your cake was absolutly fantastic!! And the Gold ears looked so cool on the Daybed, you had all your bases covered! Great planning!!

WoW!!! I sure loved all of those beautiful pictures. I can't wait for our Jan. LVC stay. Thanks so much SeaSpray!! :earsboy:

I just wanted to thank you sooooo much for sharing your pics with us! We're staying CLV at the Polynesian next month to celebrate our wedding anniversary so seeing your pics and reading your report made me even more excited (I didn't think that was possible!) The entire staff has been great to work with, especially with some of my special requests. My only fear now is that we're not going to want to stay anywhere else!
Feel free to post more pics!! ;)
Thanks again!! :goodvibes

Terry, beautiful pictures both on this and your WL thread. I have teens (boy & girl), most of their pictures also include headphones and MP3 players :). Just wondering if you ended up trying the romantic turn down package?

We are going to the Poly Dec. 27 '05 for 7 nights. DH surprised us last week with the trip. He has been checking out the resort board for concierge and poly posts and told me to check out this post. I was surprised to see it is Seaspray! I read your posts over on the cruise board. Thanks for posting a fantastic review and all the pictures. All I can say is Wow! I can't wait.

We usually do a cruise over New Year's Eve but for '06 that won't happen.
Last year for Christmas we gave our daughter a cruise with a two night precruise stay at the Poly and we loved the resort. The temps were cold from what I packed for so I will be more prepared this year. I hope it is a bit warmer that 40's for highs.

As far as the poster with the gluten intolerant child, Ohana was wonderful. They prepared special gluten free choices similar to what my DH DD were eating. The chef will come over and talk to you and explain it all. Enjoy.

I am still in shock, Poly Dec. '05 and Disney Magic March '06!

Oh Terry I just don't know how to express how that first photo of the HI building made me feel-like I was back there. I could smell the smells, here the noises, feel myself all relaxed and happy-couldn't help but smile. All your photos are so great. Seeing your view (we had 3rd floor LV last trip) made me wonder if "downgrading" was a wise decision but then seeing your lounge photos (not that I haven't already been there) made me relax again. (We are going 9 nights GV instead of 7 nights LV). I'm secretly hoping to get AP on LV but I know that is unlikely and will be very happy with my AAA GV reservation that I already have secured.

I also really loved the photo of you & DS in the GCH. You look so relaxed and happy. Can't wait to see Botiki!

Earlier this week I saw a Canon camera with 10X optical zoom on clearance on the staples web site (and a very compact Sony one too) and was thinking it might be nice to have a 2nd camera. I went back to day but they were both gone. I'll have to keep my eye open for the 10X optical zoom.

If I turnaround right now and grab the phone and call CRO and book the Poly Concierge...it will be because of you! :cool1:

I am SO jonesing right now! My finger is twitching!

Thanks so much for a really great trip report!

:teeth:

Thanks for all the wonderful pics Seaspray....we are going in less than 1 month, too. Without seeming too forward, can I ask what a cake like that might cost....it that is too forward, is there a website that I could look...It looks wonderful...were you able to take the leftovers back to your room?

I wish we could stay there without getting two rooms! Darn! Your pictures are beautiful. What a view! :goodvibes

Here's what I had said over on the restaurants board about the cake! :)

I saw the Food Network's special on Disney Weddings, and saw the actual wedding cakes and realized I could order a small sized cake, I decided on that. I wanted the gold-stamped Mickey heads around the outside of the cake, and I wanted the white chocolate Mickey and Minnie on top. Those were other reasons why I decided on one larger cake, rather than 4 very small ones. Also, you have a lot more options on filling flavors and decoration, with the larger cakes. The cake I ordered is what they call a '6" topper'. When I first heard them say 6" I thought it'd be very, very small. But she assured me that the cake would be plenty for the 4 of us, because the cake is rather high, and in person, it's much wider than 6" because of the frosting, and the fondant cover I wanted. (Fondant is that smooth covering over the entire cake. It's edible, we ate it and loved it, but some people remove it and eat just the cake and frosting underneath). The price of that 6" cake was $40, PLUS $12 for the white chocolate Mickey and Minnie topper. I got to choose exactly how I wanted it decorated.

You absolutely can take the leftovers with you; you've bought the cake, so the entire thing is yours. We ended up having enough to dessert on 2 nights, plus a little more left over after that. The cake was wonderful though...wish I still had a piece now! lol I just unwrapped the white chocolate Mickey and Minnie that we brought home. It survived the trip in our carry-on. lol I think we'll be biting off some mouse ears tonight. :earboy2:

Wow...that price was not bad at ALL...I do cake decorating and that is not bad at all...and frankly from your review of it...it tasted quite yummy....I also saw that Food Network show....great station.....Did you try any turkey legs...since we saw that show about Disney food, my DH can not wait to try them.....

I just read your report and you have gotten me SO excited to stay there in January! Thanks for the excellent detail on your Concierge experience and the pictures, too. :flower:

We have been loyal to the WL concierge up until our last trip, when we got the urge to try the Poly...

Cannot wait!

BTW, how far in advance of your trip did you make contact with the PPO? Did they call you or did you call first? With the WL, I always had to contact them but they were very helpful once I did...

Thanks again, Terry! :wave2:

I just looked back in my emails and I see that I first contacted (emailed) the IPO in the middle of March, so that was about 3 1/2 months before our trip. I introduced myself and my family, and then asked a couple of questions that I had. I contacted them first.

I had 8 nights booked at the BC.August 12th-20th. I've always wanted to stay at the poly and your thread has put me over the edge..I just changed to 4 nights Poly.4 nights BC...Yay!

Thanks for the great info & pics! I'm so glad I picked the Poly!!! :flower:
