Hi Yall! We will be staying at the Polynesian Standard View Room in June with our 2 year old. What building should we request for low noise levels? Thank you!

What room/view type did you book? That impacts my advice, to some extent.

In my opinion, all the buildings are relatively quiet - since you booked standard you won't be facing pool, which can be nosier. Chances are you will be getting a monorail view.

Your neighbors will probably be the biggest factor in how quiet it will be, something out of anyone's control.

I would make my request something easier for Guest Services to try and grant - ask for third floor, away from elevator, etc. Just saying a quiet area could mean a number of things. :)

I would just ask for what you want - a quiet area - rather than a building.

I’m jumping in here as I am in the exact same situation as the OP.

If you put “quiet area” as a room request, is the room assigner really going to know what that means? I wasn’t always under the impression that it was best to request a certain building if that’s what you want.

I assume you mean was, and certainly if you want a particular building, you should ask for it. However, a lot of posts I see are like the OP's where they want some particular element (for lack of a better term) like a quiet area, near a bus stop, near the food court, etc, and they seem to think that the best way to get what they want is to ask for a building rather than what they want. But for instance, one side of a building could be quiet because it's away from the pool or a main pathway, but another side of the building could be facing the pool and therefore likely to be more noisy - if you ask for the building rather than a quiet area, you could be put in an area of the building that's facing the pool and therefore may not be quiet.

Yes, I did mean was. Maybe autocorrect got me?

Anyway, this is good information. Thanks!

Given the new room categories, I would recommend Rarotonga. We've stayed in Rarotonga (third floor, away from the elevator, facing the quiet pool), Fiji (both sides) and Hawaii and Rarotonga was definitely the quietest room we had. It's far enough from the main pool and from the lagoon to keep the boat, water pageant and fireworks noise to a minimum. Fiji, marina side was nice, too, but I have a feeling that will be in the "marina" category at this point. The standard rooms in Fiji are on luau cove side and that can be quite loud until about 10 pm on luau nights. Niue is also very nice (right next to Rarotonga) but it only has 2 floors, so no 3rd floor balcony. Rarotonga would definitely be my first choice. It's also the closest longhouse to the GCH (and also close to the TTC path) so super easy to get to the monorail and restaurants and also great if it's raining as it's literally about 5 steps from GCH to the longhouse!

Full disclosure, I have not stayed in Rarotonga, but if I were to book standard view I’d likely request Rarotonga, 3rd floor (for the balcony) for pretty much exactly the reasons @DisneyWishes14 notes above. My second choice would be Niue first floor (somewhat of a riskier choice as Niue is very, very small).

I do think it’s a good idea at Poly to request a longhouse (or multiple longhouses) vs more generic types of requests.

Have fun OP!

I have stayed in Rarotonga, and I would recommend "away from elevator egads."
