There is a reason he says that, I have seen an alligator while at the boat dock at the Poly, even watched the water police chase him away from the beach area. It says like a cool idea but count me out, the water is too nasty to enjoy and between the gators and snakes well let's just say I'm good.

TA! I cannot see us buying any additional points at any new DVC resort given the price they are charging now. Actually, we have enough points for WDW. If we ever add on it will most likely be HHI via resale.

If they build DVC at Poly, won't they have to add another pool? The volcano pool isn't very large, nor is the quiet pool. And with additional rooms obviously means additional people which would equal to a very, very over crowded pool. So where would they add another pool or expand the current one?

This reminds me of a weekend place my husband and I thought about buying. We live in south Louisiana. Behind the house/property there was a small bayou which would give us access to the larger lake-perfect! The neighbors came over to introduce themselves and told us to make sure we continued to put a chicken on the line for Honey. We were perplexed. Turned out Honey was a 10 foot alligator! The neighbors fed it. Needless to say, we changed our minds about buying.

For 30 years I have been tormenting my wife and now my daughter with brochures from GatorLand in Kissimmee, saying we are going there to see their Gator Jumparoo show. Haven't been there yet...

We would see them in the bayous around the lake all the time and I was always petrified that the boat would spring a leak. They really are very scary looking. I'm with your wife and daughter on this.

For those who say they would worry about water snakes - don't they have them in Bora Bora? Maybe the risk is worth it where the water is so gorgeous.

No, they don't have water moccasins (sp??) and 'gaters in Bora Bora.

Yes, you can rent points from members and from agencies that re-sell member points. You can also just book a cash reservation for all DVC. This is done just as you would a non-DVC booking and unlike renting, you will get daily housekeeping and you can apply any applicable discount. For example, we booked a cash reservation for BLT last August and applied the 40% off military discount.

Try DVCRequest.com and go to David's points caluclator. Put in the dates of your trip and it will show you how many points needed to book different types of villas. Hover over the point totals to see the cost in dollars. That is a site that matches point owners to point renters and the standard rate is $13 per point.

If you are able to find an owner on your own (the Disboards DVC-Rent/Trade forum can help), the going rate is lower: most seem to be offered in the $11 range, currently.

Does anyone think it's odd that this would be a DVC venture with only 20 units? Or could this be part of a larger plan that eventually includes land-based villas and the possible removal of one Longhouse, as was speculated last summer? Seems those site balloons that were spotted last year wouldn't have anything to do with the bungalows

Sure it could be a DVC venture with only 20 units - think really sinister. Make them available as a "perk" only to direct-purchase DVC members and you kill two birds with one stone - raise demand for VGF/BLT and as a rationalization for the enormous price increases on the direct contracts.
