Polynesian Resort Adding Bungalows: DVC?

I hope they do it. I love the poly and always wanted to stay there, but not about to spend a ton of pts for a non DVC stay.

I am so hopeful! We *LOVE* the Poly and are planning to buy into DVC this year. We're waiting to see on GF, but if there's a chance...we will buy the minimum we would need at GF for 1 week for our family and when (look at my optimism!) Poly goes up, do the same there.

Ok, while we love the Poly...and the thought of DVC here excites us more than the VGF do, I have entirely different motives (right now) for following this rumor closely.

My daughter just filed papers for getting married in WDW in April 2014. She got the ball rolling and the wedding coordinator started paper work on April 4. One of the BIG questions we asked Joe from Francks Studio was when would the construction with the VGF be complete. It is VERY VERY close to the Wedding Pavilion. He told us Fall of this year it would finish up. So we breathed a sigh of relief that there would be no construction noise on her wedding day.

Now, it seems, I might have Poly DVC/bungalows to worry about ??? I am not entirely familiar with the location of the different buildings there
the bungalows coming off the Tahiti building and suggests that Tahiti and Rapa Nui
. Are these facing across the lagoon from the Wedding Pavilion does anyone know ? This could be an issue :confused3

You should go on the Disney Brides forums. They were given notice about GFV pretty early and those brides always keep up to date on these things. Never come between a bride and her wedding day :scared1:

Thank you ! Will do ! I'll probably stalk both this thread (and other Poly bungalow threads) as well as the wedding boards. My daughter is not on DIS so I have to do this sleuthing for her ! :rotfl:

Permits will have to be obtained from the South Florida Water Management District before any work can commence. I know there are already people staking-out the SFWMD website and so far there have not been any submissions related to the Poly. ;)

In the case of the Grand Floridian, the first permit applications were filed about 10-11 months before any work began on the villas. First permits were dated March '11 and visible shoreline work started in January - February '12.

Thanks Tim...this gives me hope. I am following your sites news updates as well :goodvibes:)

I'm in the same boat...we are doing our site visit with DFTW on April 30th and that's on my list of questions!

If they build this, I will by there most definitely! I would be the first person willing to add on to my membership there!

Congratulations!

Tahiti and Rapa Nui are the furthest Poly buildings from the wedding pavilion. They are relatively close to the TTC.

I'm not sure if this area is in view from the wedding pavilion or not. The view to any water bungalows would be in the direction of the ferry boat landing area. Can you see the ferry boat landing area from the WP?

Here is a photo taken on March 5. We are in front of the Wedding Pavilion and you can see the Poly in the background---so I don't think it's near TTC side ??? But maybe you will know better ? I am sorry for adding this photo if it seems OT to this thread---but I'm really trying to get an idea where these bungalows might be going ?

You can see the rocky shoreline over my husband's shoulder--that is the Wedding Pavilion---with the Poly in the background :

Maria, do you see the spit of land behind your DD and her DF? Tahiti is behind that so probably not visible during construction if that is indeed the location of the bungalows? Are they rumored or confirmed? Location confirmed?

Darling couple.

There truly is no way to know. They could start next week and they could wait years. Nothing has been confirmed by DVC at all. They just developed plans and we all know they have done plans before and never built the resort, such as Eagle Pines.

Thank you for the congrats dizfan !!!

From this perspective, it looks to me like Tahiti building is obscured by your daughter's head (and I don't mean to imply anything about the size of her head), and that the TTC ferry landing is obscured by your husband's head and/or the jut of grassy land sticking out from the Polynesian (just behind his neck and over his right shoulder). The beach area way off in the distance on the left edge of the photo appears to be the beach area on the other side of the TTC.

So if the new project was constructed off the Tahiti building, I think it would be mostly obscured by the piece of grassy land that also blocks the TTC from view. Of course, from out on the wedding pavilion island, the perspective might be a little bit different.

Wait. That's probably confusing. Maybe this will help. I believe that photo shows a field of view approximately between these yellow arrows. The star shows the rumored location of the new bungalows. It seems that grassy peninsula of the Polynesian blocks a lot of the view from the Wedding Pavilion.

Great explanation, bigAWL. I was just coming back on to say Tahiti was probably behind Maria's DD head but you explained it far better.

Sammie, thanks for the clarification.

Great explanation bigAWL (no offense taken about my family's head size either !). The arial view really helped put it in perspective. And Sammie....so true......my curiosity is just peaked now that we have other motives for wanting no construction in the area of the Wedding Pavilion until after April 2014 :smokin:;)

I am hoping this will be built and become DVC. My hands are itching to add on:worship:
