Just made a ressie for Sept. at Poly. First time atthis resort and we have a garden view (price matters). I searched the FAQ thread but would like clarification on when the rooms were renovated and if all rooms were included? Also. our dd is 5 so we'd like a room that's relatively close to the monorail. Is is possible to be in a quiet garden view room and still be close to the monorail? If so, which building should we request? I did request the 2nd floor so that we will have a balcony. So excited to be staying at a monorail resort. Thanks for any info..advice.

Closest buildings to the Grand Ceremonial House, and the Monorail station on the 2nd floor, will be Niue or Rarotonga. Niue or Rarotonga do not have balconies on the second floor. This is true of most buildings at the Poly. I think you could get a quiet room at either Niue or Rarotonga.

Most of the rooms have been renovated within the past two years. I think they were completed early to mid last year.

You might consider Tokelau also..... it's a quick walk to GCH as well as TTC (so easy to get to Epcot) and you're very close to the bus stop. Bigger rooms and one side of the building looks out on the quiet pool. IMHO it's one of the most convenient all around locations at the Poly. If you really just want to be close to the MK monorail and GCH, I agree with the PP's suggestions.

I would ask for Rarotonga which is closest to the Great Ceremonial house. The third floor rooms have balconies and first floor has a patio. Aoteroa and Samoa are also close to the GCH. Samoa is also close to both pools. You would want the quiet pool side to avoid noise though the volcano pool side has a great view it can be a bit noisy.

All rooms are renovated, and I agree with other posters about long houses.

All rooms were recently renovated and they are beautiful.
You are confused though. In the original longhouses, (Most of them) it is the second floor that DOES NOT have balconies.
If a balcony or patio is important to you, you need to change your request. Rather than asking for a floor you could request a balcony.
At any rate, if your request for a second floor is met chances are good that you will NOT have a balcony.

I'd suggest either the Samoa longhouse side that faces the quiet pool, or the Tokelau side facing the quiet pool. I'm not too big on Rarotonga simply because one side of it faces the parking lot. I like seeing foliage, not concrete.

Thanks so much for your replies-it looks like I have some work to do! It was actually the CSR who made my ressie that told me to get balcony she'd put in a 2nd floor request....Which once again proves that DISers know more than most CMs!!! And your'e right, besides the balcony, what I'm most looking for is convenience within the resort and not just the monorail. Thanks again!

We stayed on the 3rd floor in Rarotonga. We had a beutiful view of the quiet pool and could even see Wishes. It was so close to the GCH and monorail. Perfect!
