1. Is there vcr's in the Polynesian rooms or are there vcr's you can borrow from the resort?

2. How far is Tahiti from the GCH? How far is it from the TTC?

3. If you get a room that is close to where they perform the luau, can you hear it in your room?

4. What room/building would you recommend to a first timer at the Polynesian?

5. How early does the monorail start in the morning to the Magic Kingdom & EPCOT? How late does it run?

6. How much does it cost for watermice rentals here?

7. How is the food at the Kona Cafe & Captain Cook's?

Thanks all for your help!!!

1 No VCRs in the rooms. Not sure about borrowing them.

3 I havent had first hand experience but I have read sometimes rooms in the building near Luau Cove do have noise from the Luau

4 I guess it depends what you are looking for, smoking/non? What do you want to be close to? What view do you want? On our last visit we were put in Samoa. At first I was upset because I had requested non smoking and really despise the smell of smoke. When we got to our room and saw our view, I forgot about the smoking, LOL. Actually there was no smell of smoke and no ashtrays, but the view would have made up for that, and we were close to the GCH. I now love Samoa, but I would be afraid to request it in case we got a very smoky room.

7 Capt Cooks was ok, nothing really great. On the other hand, we love the Kona. We have eaten breakfast & dinner there twice and have another PS for dinner coming up soon. It has always been wonderful and we cant wait to go again.

Not in the rooms and I am pretty sure you can't rent/borrow any.

In terms of walking, it's about 5 minutes from the GCH and probably 2 or less to TTC

3. If you get a room that is close to where they perform the luau, can you hear it in your room?

Some buildings you can, but from what I understand, that isn't terribly common.

4. What room/building would you recommend to a first timer at the Polynesian?

Depends on what's important to you and when you are staying. If you want to be closer to GCH, request Niue, Raratonga or Aotearoa. Aotearoa is undergoing rehab and should be done in the next couple months. If you want to be close to TTC, ask for Tahiti. If you want to be close to the Marina, I'd ask for Fiji.

5. How early does the monorail start in the morning to the Magic Kingdom & EPCOT? How late does it run?

I believe I saw a post that the monorail starts running at 7:30am. I think it runs at least an hour after posted closing times.

Don't know haven't eaten there yet. Kona gets rave reviews from just about everyone. Captain Cooks gets mixed reviews and doesn't seem to have a lot of variety compared to other food court type areas.

Thanks all for your help!!!

You can rent a VCR, but it is with a private company & expensive. We didn't do it. Poly staff gave me the number to call, but it was like $20/day & dropoff/pickup fee. Cheaper to buy one at WalMArt :)
Kona Cafe was wonderful for lunch & dinner. OHana was great too! HAve a wonderful vacation!

Captain Cook's is just a basic grill/grocery. Nothing special but OK if you're just looking for a burger or pizza by the slice or a couple doughnuts for breakfast. Prices are high for groceries (just like anywhere else in WDW) but not too bad for grill items. It doesn't compare well to an actual food court but it's much better than nothing!

Should have been more specific regarding room/building types. Definitely a non-smoking room. Prefer a building that is close to everything, but away from the luau area. Are there certain floors/buildings that are strictly smoking/non-smoking or concierge?

Hawaii and Tonga are concierge buildings. Tonga is all suites. Samoa is a smoking building. Tuvalu is smoking optional on the 3rd floor, non smoking on 1st and 2nd. To be close to everything, Niue is close to GCH and both pools, but only about 3 minutes (I'd guess) from TTC. Tokelau is also sort of centrally located but is closer to TTC and farther from GCH. Of the two, with your preferences, I'd probably choose Niue.
