This August we will be having a split stay between SSR and Poly. Once we move over to Poly though, we still have family at SSR. Would they be able to use the pools at Poly with us as guests? I know you need a magic band to enter but do they scan your magic band at times once your in the pool area?

Officially Disney resort pools are only allowed to be used by registered guests of that exact resort(not counting proper DVC pool hopping of course). No guests allowed Cash or DVC. And it makes sense. One couple staying at Beach Club may have 8 relatives at All Stars and invite them over for an upgraded swim. You could see how that could snowball quickly.

I agree 100% but do they scan your magic band randomly if I let them in? lol

Yes. They do. I’ve had my MB randomly scanned while sitting poolside at WL/BRV/CCV, at VGF and while staying on cash at Poly. Each time, I was asked if we were staying at the resort and then they scanned everyone’s MB.

Can't do it, sorry. I have personally witnessed non-resort guests asked to leave.

I have had my MB randomly scanned while at the Poly. This happened on random days at both the main pool and the "quiet" pool and on more than one occasion. If you need to have a joint pool day, go to SSR where pool hopping is allowed.

Yes, they randomly scan magic bands. I had it happen to us and I've observed it being done to others and folks being asked to leave. This is one of the reasons when I travel with family, we get rooms at the same resort. I wouldn't risk the embarrassment of your family being asked to leave and more importantly, it's inconsiderate of guests staying at PVB who already have to deal with very crowded pools which is why the rule exists to begin with.
