I am going to WDW the end of august and I need some help.

I cant decide whether to take a cabin at FW or a room at the Poly. I am going with DW and my 2 DSs, we really dont need a kitchen, and the difference in price is less than $100 for the whole 4 days I am there, please Help!!!!

I like the poly because of its location and views. I like the Cabins at FW because of the spacious rooms, im hoping I can get opinions from people who have stayed in each or both of these places.

Thanks

Nathan

If you really don't care about or want the kitchens you may want to consider the Polynesian's location. At the Polynesian you can hop on the monorail and be at either the GF or Contemporary as well as MK in minutes, plus you can also transfer to the monorail to Epcot. The rooms at the Polynesian are among the largest on the property, but again, they are rooms. You will need to weigh the space against the convenience and ultimately only you know which is more important.

I have stayed at both many times and both resorts are great for different things.
Poly has a great location to get to MK and even Epcot if you change monorails. They have one of the best restaurants on WDW property --Kona Cafe and they also have O'Hana, which many peopl like, we have tried this restaurant 3 times and do not care for it but we are in the minority. The atmosphere and theming at the Poly is beautiful and the pool has just been refurbished with a new volcano pool slide. From the Poly beach you can watch the Electrical Water Parade and also the MK fireworks. They have large room and the daybed is also large.
FW cabins are also very nice. You will have the extra space at night in the living room to relax and watch tv after the kids are in bed. Even though you do not plan to cook, having the kitchen for snacks, drinks, a quick breakfast etc is very nice. There is also a large wooden outdoor deck with a picnic table that is great to relax on and take in the quiet atmosphere. There is alot to do at FW, there is a petting zoo, hay rides, horseback riding, bike trails, boat rentals, a nightly campfire and movie with Chip & Dale, playgrounds and volley ball courts. The pools are just regular pool not slides but are usually not crowded. The only negative with FW is transportation. If you do not have a car you will need to take the buses to everywhere but MK. MK has a boat but you must first get to the marina to get the boat so unless you rent a golf cart (which are alot of fun BTW) you will need to take a bus to the boat. The buses that go to the other parks stop at all the loops and also WL, so it can be time consuming. Unless they have changed it, the bus transportation to Downtown Disney leaves alot to be desired. If you have a car you will not have any problems with transportation at FW.
Both resorts are really great, you just have to decide which theming/atmosphere you would prefer. Also having the extra room with kids is wonderful. However since you are only staying 4 days you will probably not have much time to spend at your resort so maybe the Poly would be better.

I am not a fan of FW cabins...my family left and changed hotels after 2 days...I felt very isolated, couldn't find my way around, pools didn't have any themeing, just didn't enjoy it....
I like hotels and the themeing they have....

DeeP gave very good descriptions! But, just to correct one thing: FW does have its own buses to the parks now! :D

We stayed in both during our first onsite stay years ago. The FW cabins are great because they have 2 seperate rooms and because they have the kitchen. The downside is that it takes longer to get anywhere because you need to 'leave' FW using an internal bus system and transfer to the general WDW transportation system to get anywhere.

Also I liked the beds at the Polynesian much more than the beds in the cabins. They were larger and more comfortable.

Both locations have lots of things to do - but they are different so if you are going to spend some time at the resort you might want to compare the activities to see which ones you prefer.

everybody has different tastes and preferences, but to me there is no contest here! esppecially, that the $ is such a small difference!!!
The Polynesian! hands down!
the polynesian wins for me for many many reasons! one, it is a deluxe resort, with lots of amenities! the location is great, it has so many transportation options! the monorail, a 5 minute ferry ride to MK! plus the theming!!! it is a tropical paradise! the pools and beach are beautiful, with the best (imho) view at WDW!
it is magical!
the rooms are so very big at the Poly, I doubt you'd feel cramped at all, they are quite spacious, bigger than the Y&B, and even the GF's rooms.
you also have way more dining options that are convenient! the restaurants at the Poly (ohanas, kona cafe, and you can walk to the GF restaurants, or take the monorail to the CR!)

to me, there is no comparison, cabins dont appeal to me, and buses dont either. I know they have a ferry to MK at FW, but it takes much longer than the one at the Poly, and the one at the Poly (again, imho) is nicer cause its smaller, less crowded, and open/airy!!! :)

Laura :)

15 days til WDW!!! yipeeeee :) :) :)

How old are your sons? If one is a baby and a light sleeper, I might choose FW. Otherwise...Poly all the way especially with such a small price difference. As noted above, the Poly rooms are very large and you can't beat the atmosphere or the transportation. We've taken 25 vacations at the Poly and only 2 at FW...when our 2nd and then 3rd child were babies. The bedrooms at FW are small and the beds are so much more comfortable at the Poly as Bstanley noted. You can always rent a refrig for $10/day at the Poly. We always get a minifridge there. I'm sure your family will have a great time whichever you choose.
